Vegging under T-5's?

I wanted to set up a veg ebb and flow system with an extra 3x3 flood tray I have. My question is about what I should do for lighting. I was thinking of running 4ft x 8 tubes of T-5's. Has anyone else used T-5's for Veg? How well does it work?

I was thinking of using the T-5's because overall cost is cheaper, replacement bulbs are cheaper, they are more efficient, and they run cooler.

Suggestions? Comments? What is your experience?

That would be perfect for what I am doing, thanks for the info. How do you like the super lemon haze? I was thinking of getting some seeds from greenhouse or clones if I can find someone in the area with the strain.

Sorry I gotta say this, GO BEAVS!

What brands are good for t-5 ballasts. It seems like there is a lot to choose from. What was the beautiful difference you had when you switched to t-5's? Are they actually that much better?
I know they give off a broader light spectrum, but don't you also get less lumens than a 600 watt? How often do you change ur bulbs?

i personally went for what was closest and i could that day. that being said, i grabbed a Hydrofarm 4ft6tube T5 setup. cost about 200 bucks, good amount of lumens for watt usage, and best of all (and really the only reason i am using it over a mH) low heat output. been working great, testing it out on 3 bagseed sativa plants as we speak, going veg through flower just to try it out (and to save for better lighting in a new house). lil over a week into sex now and things are looking fan-fuckin-tastic =D

I used my t-5 my slh's and it worked out great. I plan on using it for all my seedlings but I'm using it right now for some side lighting on the end of my garden that is getting the least amount of light from the 1k. It's a very versatile light to have around.

And oh yeah GO DUCKS!

Oh and I have the same light klosetking has.

Edit: I went down to the basement and double checked, mine is only a 4bulb 2x4 same company though Hydrofarm.

ya they seem to be really decent for what they are. been considering grabbing a few 2700k bulbs and switchin like 2 of the 6 out, but i just dont feel the benefit would really be worth the time/money, considering iam broke lol

I have veged 4 32" -36" plants under 8 bulb 4 foot T5s. Then over to a 600hps where I harvested (dry) 4-6.5 oz per plant.

When buying bulbs for the T5s buy them on line where they are half the price, look for free shipping.
