Venilation Schedule

Hi all,

First post here
My question is pertaining to ventilation here in Colorado. Being that it is in the middle of winter, I am concerned with the incoming air being too cold in the evenings to keep the grow room properly warm. My plants are nearing the vegetation stage.

We see a 20 degree F. difference between day and night, and I am wondering if you need the ventilation system going on a 24 hr. basis.

Hey Denvergreen I am over on the western slope. Your setup will determine how and when you should vent. I have mothers growing in an indoor closet and I let the vent run all day and night. My main grow is in the garage and I keep it ventilated during the day and I have a regular electric space heater on the floor that helps keep the temp stable. Only on really cold nights (below 20 degrees F) do I see my temp drop below 75. You just have to make sure that ventilation is shut off at night.

We might be able to give you some better input if you can elaborate on what kind of setup you have...

It's an attic over the garage setup. 7' x 8' twin plastic Vegetation and flowering rooms. Numerous vents are already present into the ceiling of the garage, so incoming and outgoing is not an issue at all. I have two 400 cfm blowers ready to perform (per room).

My main concern at the moment is that during the evenings, that attic is getting super cold, and I do not see my heater performing well after ventilation is even fired up. Currently (w/o ventilation and w/o Vegetating plants) the heat is stable, but shaky if that makes sense. Common sense would say to get a more powerful heater, but the one I am using is not exactly a small unit. If I were to leave room ventilation on 24/7, I fear the cold air is going to wreak havoc on those plants.

My current plan:
Intake on far side at the bottom, outgoing at opposite end near the top. No need for filtration (yet), and no need to cool any bulbs as I will be using fluorescent's in Vegetation.
I am using a large convection type heater.
