Ventilation and filtering

Absolutely, I find that the veg room needs it just as much. Doing one without the other was pointless in my case.

without dimensions DO NOT PURCHASE VENTILATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wait until you know for sure.

if you plan on using 2x1000w air cooled lights you will probably need at least 500CFM INLINE FAN to keep them cool.

When you know dimensions of room make sure they are in ft if you need CFM's or metres if you need m3/h

calculations

LxWxH = total volume
example
6ftx6ftx8ft=288cu ft --- this is your CFM minimum fan to be able to exchange air once a minute. If using a carbon filter you have to allow for the deminishing effect of your fan when filter is attached usually 25%
So
288x1.25 = 360CFM fan and filter combo.

if you use metres
LxWxH = total volume
2x2x2.5 = 10 m3 we now have to multiply this by 60minutes to get hourly rate
10x60= 600m3/h fan rating now multiply this by 1.25 for the filter
600x1.25= 750m3/h fan and filter combo

Tried to explain this as best i can.

Hey man, thanks for the formula it helped, but we're a bit confused.

I know that the room is 20 square metres, I'm assuming that that was 5 x 4m for L x H so the width is probably 2m , meaning it comes down to 40m³ ... Now that doesn't sound right somehow.

Do you think we could have a fan that sucks the air from both the vegging and flowering room at 1020m³/h as well as one that blows air from the outside into both rooms? Would an active coal filter for 400m³/h work with that fan?

Thanks

i will work it out now
do you plan on using the whole room to grow? i will base my calculations on YES

i will use 2.5m as your ceiling height.

5x4x2.5 = 50 m3
50x60= 3000m3/h

3000x1.25 = 3750m3/h if you plan on using the whole room .

this can be split into 2 filter and fan combo packages.

one thing i would mention is that 2x1000w lights will not cover that area.

Are you sure you are growing in the whole room ????

Thanks again man.

Well, the whole room is 20m² - we want to divide into 2 rooms, one for vegging one for flowering. In the veg room we're going to put in four 600 watters, and in the flowering room eight 600 watters, because we'll be having 2 groups of plants in there at any given time, meaning 32.

It's going to be a bit crowded in the flowering room, but with 8 600w lamps, I doubt that will be a problem.

Basically we want the ventilation to go through both rooms - that will save us money and having to set up a seperate system for each room.

Thanks!

your going to have to have 2 ventilation systems they can exhaust to the same place.

i'll break this down into the 2 rooms and base it on the active growing area which is the space occupied by both plants and lights.

veg room

4x600w = 2400w floor area cover (1.2x1.2) x 4 = 2.4x2.4 or 1.2x4.8
this gives you an active growing area of 2.4x2.4x2 (LxWxH) = 11.5m3
11.5m3 x 60mins = 691m3/h
691x1.25 = 864m3/h fan and filter combo.

flower room

8x600w = 4800w floor area cover ( 1.2x1.2) x 8 4.8x4.8 or 2.4x4.8
this gives an active growing area of 46m3
46x60 = 2760m3/h
2760m3/h x 1.25 = 3450m3/h fan and filter combo

this is based on NON AIR COOLED LIGHTS to be able to replenish the air using passive intakes where ambient intake air is approx 20C

If you plan on going air cooled then you will need to have 2 seperate lighting systems in the veg room each with a 660m3/h fan pulling through 2 600's each
4 lighting systems in the flower room each with a 660m3/h fan pulling through 2 600's .

If it were me personally i would do the above air cooled.

With all the lighting you plan on using it is better to seperate them into banks of 2.

Something i would also be considering would be a light mover you could then use 1x600 not air cooled in place of 2 stationary 600's .

making it 2x600's in the veg room and 4x600's in the flowering room saving you more money also on electric.

Just some food for thought.

Thanks man - you're really a great help! Yes we would rather have them non-air cooled - it's too expensive for our budget.

Well if we had a rail, ok we could save money, but who would move the rail every day.... ?

lol you buy light movers and its all automated lol.

J
Seriously? Ok, but with the light movers, are you sure the other plants still get enough light, even when they don't have the lamps directly above them?

I see it more logical that fixed lamps should give more light in the end cus they never move...
