Ventilation Etc

Hey guys,

As you can see I'm new to the forums and new to growing in general. I've learned a lot in the past week, enough to successfully grow a decent plant that yields some killer bud (I'll be posting a blog on my "adventures" soon enough) but that's all a different story!

I need some help regarding ventilation. I'm purchasing a grow room with ports for intake and exhaust however I have two questions:

1. Is the Intake necessary if I run an exhaust fan? I'll be sucking out the "bad" air and it'll be self replenishing itself inside the room by itself with fresh air, right?
2. What are good fan(s) (if necessary for both exhaust and intake) to buy to connect to tubes which will connect to the ports?

**NOTE: the ports are 8" in diameter

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

You can use a passive intake. Only need the fan for exhaust. Don't get a duct booster. You need a centrifugal fan.

So I should close off the port(2) and just use the port(1) and install a centrifugal fan to exhaust the "old" air out of the grow room?

Depends on your room. If you don't have a different way of bringing in fresh air you will need to leave one open.

Ahh, sorry for not specifying one of the most important things.. location! Ha, it'll be in a grow room, however, it'll be outdoors, under an enclosure on the side of my house next to my A/C units.
