i am building a 4 foot high 4 foot long and 3-4 feet wide, it will hvae 1-600w MH/HPS, any cheap fans to vent the space? thanks!!

well if your looking for cheap you could just try an osc fan pointed at it, but that might not work, you should get a vortex and either an air colled hood or a DIY cooler, there is alot on this site on it. I had to spend alot of money on cooling my stuff, but i guess it depends on your heat

i dont mind like around 100, but i need it to be relatively quiet and from what ive heard they seem to be quite loud

6 inch inline fan with a dimmer switch hooked to your hood should be quiet at medium and keep your light cool to the touch i run 600watt hps and have 4 inch vortex inline i wish i got the 6 inch so i could run it at a lower speed gonna be more then $100 most likely but unless your somewhere thats cold all the time 600watt in a small space gets hot fast w/o good ventilation at least for me
i have 2.5ft deep 7ft wide 8ft tall closet that iv been able to get to only 4~5 degrees hotter right under the 600hps then the room its pulling air from
the hood is vented with 4inch inline then i have a small ocliating fan pointed under the light and over the tops of the plants and then my intake fan at the bottom cornner pointing between the pots bringing cold air up mixing into the ocliating fans path and being vented out im probably doing it wrong but its working atm lol gl

Where would one get a dimmer for the vortex? I have both a 6" and a 4", 4" hooked to carbon filter, 6" for cooling my releftor, but i would love to turn it down alittle but the shop where i got them already had the reg switch installed and don;t carry the dimmer

PS.. Please check out my journel on my sig and leave comment,, PLease! you can see how my vortexs are working

heres the dimmer i use and how its set up my filter and inline fan are in the attict you should be able to get a dimmer switch at hydro stores or maybe home depot or ace
i think you just gotta make sure its powerfull enough to handel the fan

Yup... a real fan is the way to go...

I use 600s.. and I had one in my tent... 20"x36"x54".. never an issue...

And remember, a 6" fan at half power will be quieter and use less juice than a 4" at full speed...

WORTH MENTION IS THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER A LIGHT DIMMER TO SLOW A FAN DOWN... USE A POTENTIOMETER.. like the speedster above...
