Venting and air intake help...

Hey Lads, just a quick newbie question I'd like to run past you all...
My tent is a 1.5m x 1.5m and is in my loft.

I have a 180m3/HR fan blowing air into my tent from outside behind my fascia under the eaves & a 280m3/HR fan extracting via a carbon filter and cool tube with a 600 watt hps through the ceiling and back downstairs into my spare room.

Firstly, even though I'm using a carbon filter my house always seems to smell of that strong loft smell?
I'm going to increase the size of the fan blowing air in to give it better circulation for heat purposes anyway but...

My spare room does definitely get warmer if the doors shut so I know it kicks out some heat.
I just wanted to know if I'm able to vent the warm air directly outside, Would a 600Watt HPS really draw that much attention to my house in the sense of a heat signature/ FLIR camera...??

Any other suggestions are also greatly appreciated of where to vent the warm air...

Thanks Guys!

Hi how are you, Lets see okay the loft smell is like a basement smell, ventalation is key and air movement too, have a fan blowing air around the room your growing in to keep the stale air moving and from entering your plants nice warm nest. What I do in my basement, and it's just what I do other have some pretty cool stuff too. I suck out of my flower chamber with a 4" can fan thingy lol, and I run it 6' over to my veg area through a carbon filter at the end. I found it cools the air before moving through the carbon and the carbon works better and longer than manufacturers say. 5 years and no smell here hehe. MD

Sup @moondance , I didn't know your a basement grower too.
Lofts are hard to control for me where I live it can 100+ in an unconditioned attic in the winter, and way to damn dry. But what I use as an exhaust vent is a dryer vent it looks and sounds natural. And of course it has a heat signature but it's a dryer vent lol.

Is your exhaust fan big enough to keep negative pressure in your tent with intake fans running? Try turning off the intake fan and just have a passive intake, it may help with the smell.

Yap smelly frosty goodness. Nice.
I like to use a powerful exhaust, mine is a 450 cfm with a speed controller, this moves a lot of air, and ain't to bad on noise. I also gasket the hell out of the door and put a heavy spring on it to.
Enough negative pressure will pull in fresh air, but I like two fans. Because I don't have a environment controller yet, I rely on timers not the best option but the only one I have at the moment. Also messing with your plants will stir up a smell.

Make sure you intake can isn't producing too much airflow. If the pressure in the tent is too high you will and up with air escaping the tent that is not going through the carbon

Afternoon lads,

I've discovered the problem with the smell!

The intake pipe that was feeding my tent with clean fresh air, wasn't! It wasn't sticking outside enough so it was still drawing in the air in my loft instead of from outside!

The intake fan is 100M3/HR less than my extraction fan so i still have a nice negative pressure inside my tent to stop any leaks and so on...

Thanks for all your help guys! Keep up the good work :)
