Venting Into Home HVAC Photos Included

Im Planning on running 2K watts in a 6X16 room I built in my basement and wanted to vent the heat through my home ducting system. I will be carbon scrubbing the air that I’m venting into my home so smell wouldn’t be an issue. I would like to know if anyone tried this before and I would like to know if it would mess with the furnace in a bad way

I wouldnt do what your thinking but i got another option that might work. On the face of your furnace that 4inch exhaust pipe i'd cut up some from the unit and put a 4 to 6 inch adapter and make the rest of that pipe solid 6 inch and then Y in the grows exhaust there. Also id get the right size filter for your unit that big gap is bad. Does it have a A coil for the AC unit ontop of the furnace, i dont see any ac lines so im assuming no.

I have central AC but I dont have too much knowledge of HVAC work....So what do you think would happen if I exhaust the heat through where I was thinking about exhausting it to ??

First off if your renting and dont own the house the hole you want to cut will be expensive to fix. The run you want to cut hole in is it the return or supply, basicly is it before or after unit? I see the vent on the return which makes me believe your system was out of balance before vent was installed. Need to figure out if theres a A coil above furnace cause if there is and your blowing air into supply it will ruin A coil. Is your ac unit outside right outside of where the furnace is?

The cut that Im thinking about making is in the vent that pushes air to the kitchen and living room...the return/supply vent isnt too far away. Would it be best if I vented into the supply/return vent...And also the AC unit is on the opposite side of the house where the furnace is

Return and supply are 2 different things. Return is air going into furnace and supply is air coming out of vents. So it seems you dont have A coil over furnace, the outside ac unit would be as close to the furnace as possible and freon lines would be running into it.

Id say if you do it your way it will cause some minor issues. You definitely will have a carbon filter smell all through house. Your house will get hot in summer time. Inside your furnace i would say will be fine though. Get the right size furnace filter so you can close the filter door otherwise you will have exhaust in basement still.

Im still recommending to use the furnace exhaust.
