Venting lights: Suck or blow?

I recently read in an article that one should always push/blow air through reflectors, opposed to sucking/pulling air through them. I'm asking because ever since my first grow I've pulled air through the lights, not pushed. Does it really make that much of a difference? Has anyone tried both? And had better results with one than the other?

damn, i never even thought about this...good post... sucking requires less material. becasue then u dont need anything hooked up on the other end of the cooltube/hood....But good post

you want the air going through your filter, to the lights then out of the room.
if you have the fan pushing the air through the lights after its filtered, no unfiltered air will be "sucked" into your clean exhaust route.
if you do it the other way, non filtered stanky bud air from your room can get sucked in the lil cracks and spaces in the lights\glass thus voiding the point of a carbon filter.

Thanks guys,

Chefbob, i hadn't really thought about the odor leaks. Has me thinking now though. The air comes from outside through a pre-filter from an old can fan and a hole on a window box. So, the ducting should be completely separate from the air in the room, but cant be too safe. I was going to add insulation around the ducting anyway. 100+ all week and looks the same for next week...constantly battling temps, its cool though, literally, I usually win and the room stays under 80.

how do you not have control of your temperature? its all about airflow. my room is 11x16 with 2 4x12 tables,4 cool tubes over one table, 3 over the one. got a 10max fan and a 6 vortek exhausting, both with Phresh filters. then three active air 8" booster fans bringing air in at 3 separate entry points. the 10 maxfan w filter is hung up against the ceiling with a Y connector pushing the air out through the 2 rows of lights, then out through ceiling. the 6 vortek is on a wall shelf with filter exhausting out through the ceiling as well.i just realized i havent slept..been up all night trimming cherry kush, i highly reccomend it.
