vertical grow room questions????

I was woundering if anyone had a link to a kind of vertical for dummies thread. I have a room growing flat that is 5x8x7tall and was thinking of a three sided vertical grow.I'd have at the max 25-30 plants on three walls being 2 @ 6' and a 3' at the end. What i wanted to know was some of the basics.
How far does the light need to be from the plants?
is it better to run a cool tube or bare bulb?
will 5 feet total be enough width for a 2 teir setup?
how far apart should the plants be placed side to side and between shelves?
Will a "U" shaped design screw up the vertical design I understand i'll loose out on plant area but is there any other downfalls?


And yes i knowthere are many factors that determine some of the answers, just looking for some guidlines to start from. Cheers

its kinda new, a lot of info is scattered around and there is no definite source

how far the lights are away depends on the wattage.. i have 600w bulbs that start 2 feet and end about a foot and a half or so away with no burning.

cool tube or any kind of glass in front of the bulbs will eat anywhere from 8-15 percent of the usable light, so if cooling is not an issue running bare bulbs is the way to go but if you need to control temps then obviously you will need a cool tube

5 feet will be plenty of room for a 2 tiered setup.. mine has 3 levels and the third is about 6 feet, and the bottom is about 18 inches from the ground

and how far the pots should be spaced depends on if you plan on flowering from clone or veggin em out.. obviously vegging em out they need more space but you have to wait longer between cycles..

you need to have a little more info before you make your final designs

Ill be using 1 1k most liklyin a tube.

I only have 5 feet total width of the room and almost 7 high. I thought one on the ground one at about three feet. with the light at about 4 feet off ground, hows that sound to you. thanks fro taking a minute to help me out also.

i would do 2 600s if possible, i think the 1000 will be to close to the plants and have some heat issues

with 2 600s you would be able to have better light coverage, plants closer to the bulbs, and the ablility to have more tiers thus more bud.. you will be much happier i assure you

i already have the 1000 what about adding a 400 on the bottom

also its a quantum dimmable dig. ballast so may be running at 75% is better

i would sell em both if i were you and get 2 600s you will be much much happier i promise you

i'm about aweek away any more advice? i'll post some pic once started
