Vertical ScrOG 400W GH Flora Series 4 Strains DWC :)

Hey guys, so I'm finally posting up my first grow journal here. I was gonna start a while back, come to think of it maybe I did? But anyway, my computer crashed so I'm using my roommate's. Sad thing is my computer had most of my grow journal entries and photos  So I don't have any pics of my cloner in action, but soon I will put it to use again and you will see. It's a diy fog cloner and it worked very well after some tweaking. I had all 3 of my Top 44 cuttings rooted within 5 days and the rest all within 11. So since I lost the photos I'll fill you in. Took the cuttings on 6/15. After about 2 weeks I transplanted them all, I actually transplanted the Top 44 after 8 though so they were a little ahead. These pictures span from 7/19 to today. I am training my plants vertically around a light during flower, however you will see the light here is still horizontal. I'm doing this because for the moment I want the plants to grow a little more up, but I still have them bent and tilted back to coax all the growth tips a little. I'm doing it this way because I have more vertical space than horizontal in my room. Once I put them into flower, the chamber is a little roomier so I'll put them around a vertical light and then in stretch they should fill up the rest of the screen, same as regular ScrOG, only roughly 150% more efficient light use :hump:
You will see it's a completely homemade closet, framed a new wall and all. Not quite finished, but I'll have it looking good in about 2 paychecks. You can see my diy controller bucket and reservoir, basically keeps the water level in the buckets and an extra 5 gal res that i am having to top off about once a week. The last pics of the plants are at day 50 since cutting, so 5-6 weeks into veg. I was originally using advanced organics but had some issues since I didn't realize nothing in the organic line has any Ca or Mg and they don't mention that you need to supplement it. Every other line from every other company I've looked at mentions it and has an extra CalMag supplement, but not AN so I got my money back and went to GH and now everything has come back full swing. Enjoy!

By the way, I forgot to mention my strains. The most sativa looking plant is lamb's breath. The smallest is a new strain from Oregon? called the White. The other 2 are purple kush and top 44.

So this is a hot thread, lol. Oh well. Anyway, just wanted to add some new pics. They are growing so fast right now. I upped the ppm to about 1000 using my 2-2-2 transition formula and I'll be turning the lights off for 36 hours tomorrow at 10am. Here is just a side shot from 8/5. 85.jpg Here's a canopy shot from 8/7 87Canopy.jpg Here's a few from today PurpleKush.jpg810roots.jpgLambsBreath.jpgWhite.jpgTop44.jpg810canopy.jpg I love seeing them grow so quick! Starting to smell amazing.

Great job so far. Have you done a horizontal scrog before?

Just interested to see how your yield improved by going vertical.

Keep up the good work.

Hey, no this is my first go at scrog. I used to just lst. I also haven't grown in 2 years so I just decided to take a whole new, little more thought out approach. I'm gonna take some more pics here in about an hour when the lights come back on and you guys can check out my flowering chamber :weed: It's pretty dope if I do say so myself.

Hey sorry for the delay, here's the latest pics. Here's from 8/18818.jpg 8/21821.jpg and 8/24 (day 13 of flower) bud824.jpg824.jpglambsbreath824.jpg Any guesses on yield? The canopy takes up appx 12 sq ft at roughly 1' away from 400w hps in cool tube. I keep training the bigger fan leaves behind the bud sites. I figure this way they will both receive light as the bud sites are quite a bit smaller and don't shade the leaves as much as the other way around, does anyone have and thoughts on this. Maybe I should trim some? I've trimmed a little, more so early on but only when i really thought a leaf or shoot was gonna be more of a hassle than it was worth, like a few that were sticking straight out or back that were hard to train back. Jorge Cervantes says not to though. Nutrient transport from older leaves to younger is more efficient than via roots, but does this outweigh the cost of the plant having to support the older leaves which might shade budsites, causing stretching and whatever? Lets hear some good ideas!

yeah i love it ...
few question * sorry if you already said.

how long did you veg for with and without being in the cloner?
im thinking of a perpetual grow like this ..
2 rooms.. one plant moves a spot every 2 weeks in this order. (take cuttings from mother)
cloner (for 2 weeks)
veg 2 week
veg 4 week
flower 2 week
flower 4 week
flower 6 week
flower 8 week and harvest.

4 plants in flower room and 4 in veg room.. (mother, clones and 2 in veg)
harvest every 2 weeks.. probably only 1 or 2 ounce.
but still its not bad for a constant supply. and you could use 400 watts.

but. im not sure how long to veg for .. if 4 weeks veg after 2 in the cloner isnt enough then i would have to scrap the perpetual part and do the same as you .. cloner for 2 weeks and veg for 6. what would you recommend when i only have room for 4 plants in each room. (v-scrog. about the same space as you)

sorry just had the idea in my head and had to make note. i had some ak47 and i dont know when to stop sorry.

I'm playin with the idea of my cycle for a perpetual harvest, but this time through is pretty much all just for kicks. What i did was root 3 cuttings of each plant then combine them when transplanting so they technically become one plant (as long as the genes are the same) however it's posed some canopy managment problems. I'm trying to come up with a good method, when i do I'll post my ideas and get some input. I have 3- 7 week strains and 1- 8 week strain plus legally i'm only allowed 6 plants however my roommates are getting their cards then I can up my numbers a few.

To answer your question, this time i vegged for about 6 weeks however I also stunted them a little early on so I'm thinkin I got about 4-5 weeks of quality growth in. Also, I'm doing some research on pruning and such so for the next round I want to be more systematic with pruning and training as this time was a bit haphazard. Basically I just chopped where I felt i should and pull all the tips toward the light wherever they fit.... which is becoming cramped, so maybe a week or 2 less veg, 3 would probably be fine, maybe 4. From what I've seen thus far, the difference from regular scrog is with vertical scrog, fan leaves tend to get in the way more than when I lst'ed (and what horizontal scrog looks like) so I want to make it cleaner and "prettier" after all the process is therapeutic so I want to enjoy lookinh at my girls. Vertical is fun.

Thanks! I'm freakin out lately. it's almost winter and I'm fucking sick of summer. I can't wait to snowboard every day. Also, my first smoke from this is gonna come around opening day on the mountain so it's twice the anticipation.

this is a great setup. I was looking to do something like this. Vertical gets so much more light than a horizontal grow and more light=more buds. That dude Heath Robinson consistently pulls 1.8 g/w doing vertical. It is so much more efficient, esp w/ a scrog, keep up the good work!

Hey thanks for the props. I'm stoked, the plants are now at day 30 of 12/12. The buds are starting to plump up a little and I'm hoping they should really start to swell over the next few weeks. Here's some pics.Grow cabIMGP2381.jpgbud shot from 8/30 DSC_0006.jpgTop 44 and Purple Kush out for training IMGP2453.jpgPurps!!! IMGP2458.jpgIMGP2457.jpgTop viewIMGP2438.jpg

Buds are looking good. Cleaning up and stuff so I'll take pics later. One thing I would love some feedback on. I came home today and found my light on more than an hour before it was supposed to be. The timer indicated that it had probably been on for about 10-11 hours which would mean I might have bumped the timer last night or something when I was doing some work. I turned the light off and set the timer back to the correct time on the dial and plan to let it turn back on again here in about 15 minutes and just hope my girls will show me the same love I've showed them. Anyone had this experience before and what might I expect?

Your grow looks great. Don't worry about your timer being off, you put it back, so it will be fine. I've been working on a stadium type scrog lately so i'm interested to see how yours turns out. Subbed and +rep
