I did my part for the 4th of July, I pointed out to Sutter Health park the proper way to illuminate the US flag after dark. At this time it is only illuminated during a baseball game and not taken down at sunset or illuminated after the game. We'll see if they care or not.

I was escorted out of Walmart by the friendly local sheriff's office after a talk with the manager about their tattered flag. I had offered to replace it at my own cost but his response of "nobody really gives a shit about a tattered flag" caused me to forget my normally quiet and reserved nature. Luckily I just got banned from Walmart until that idiot went to a new store. I'm happy to say he did replace the flag a week later lol. To some it might not matter anymore but to me it's worth arguing/fighting over. I'm a bit nuts though, so I try to take that into account

I wear my USCG Vet hat on occasion and it has my rank insignia on it.
Usually only the Coasties & Squids know what it means though.

Too funny, I made it to E5 in the army which is Sargent but got out as an E4 after doing pretty much that to another soldier that really needed it. 30 days pay loss, 30 days extra duty and a reduction in rank. Hell if you didn't get an article 15 in aviation you just weren't trying hard enough lol.
I made E4 and E5 twice (it was Tequila's fault).

reached the rank of captain as a firefighter.
i fell off a roof on 7dec2004 with 25 years on, ending my career
but i do get a salute every now and again when i stars....lol

Just had what I believe to be an MQ-9 Reaper go overhead in what looked to be a landing pattern. No time to get the camera out but the craft was at about 1000 ft and unmistakable.
