Vibrating HID

my HID light fixture has these reverberations sounding through it off and on from the exhaust fan. It actually sounds pretty intense, it's like the vibrations build up and then rattle the thing. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew whether the vibrations could possibly damage the fixture or especially the bulb with its small parts? Or if anyone just has vibrating HID's that are no problem? I'm probably going to put some foam under the fan to try and stop this.

you sure your wife did`t borrow it ?

don't sounds good, shouldn't do that, my main concern is if the bulb works it way out

hehe yea well .. I have seen pictures of HID bulbs that slowly (with out vibrations) unscrewed them self for then being sucked up the cool tube/ducting and pass the ventilation spraying the room out side with small glass pieces from the bulb, solutions on many hoots is some wire/net so it at least don't works it way trough the ventilation, but you need to find a solution on the vibration, do your ventilation touch anything that touch the light fixture ? some Ppl. hang there ventilations up to minimize vibrations traveling

Unscrew the bulb and screw it back in making sure it's in tightly......that could be the issue.

yea agree, a bad connection so the electricity have to travel can also be the reason

no it's the fan, i know because it stops when i turn it off, and it is the hood that rattles as far as i can tell.

I'm going to take a guess here and ask. Is your fan mounted directly to something solid like a a stud in the wall or ceiling or something of that sort? If so mount it by suspending with bungee cords. Problem solved. If that's the case anyways.
