VICE Investigation on Cannabis Costs for Veterans

A good piece by VICE - https://news.vice.com/story/veteran-medical-marijuana-benefits-are-costing-canada-a-fortune

Usual stuff like a small number of doctors signing, but some really scummy behaviour out of Aphria and MedReleaf:

A local clinic in Ontario, in conjunction with his doctor, prescribed him 10 grams a day and referred him to Aphria, a licensed medical marijuana producer and vendor that specifically marketed itself to veterans. Their strains were selected “by veterans, for veterans,” according to the company website. Veterans identify themselves as such when signing up, and see a specialized veteran shop.

Kurt logged onto the Aphria site, which offers a sleek, easy-to-navigate online shop, and chose several strains, paying upwards of $12 per gram.

Later, his wife stumbled onto Aphria’s main site, the one available to the general public. It turns out that, as a veteran, several products were hidden from view entirely.

just so wrong.
why shaft them? it's bad enough that they have to go to LP's but to pull crap on them?
No different than any other program funded by the taxpayer. Milk each vet for the maximum monthly coverage cause the government is picking up the tab. They don't want them buying $6 floor sweepings, they might not suck every dollar out of them. Same happens with military suppliers down to the company supplying asswipe to government bathrooms. Fucking bullshit. If we had any idea of the kickbacks and other scams going on...the LP's are getting their share....

My cansof buddy says most Canadian vets claim ptsd for free $70k yet never see real battle. Considering most American army never see real battle I wonder the numbers with Canadian.

now that the Government is crying fowl over LP prices, maybe they'll have to reign it in.
maybe they'll be more patient friendly......OK, i can't keep a straight face writing this.
the Government is going to investigate what we've been saying all along-they charge too much that even the Government is concerned.
all they had to do was ask us the people here in the trenches!

i was thinking yesterday about the Dr's protecting us by offering lower doses/g per day. when you go to get any other drug, they are happy to titrate you to any dose amount but when it's the devil's lettuce, they are the authority and know it all...yet claimed there was no studies so they couldn't do anything but with a new PM, now there are loads of studies...??

if it takes a person 20 g a day to become painfree or close to it, i don't see what the problem is. there's no deaths and no fatal amount so what exactly are they protecting us from?

How can someone get PTSD without seeing active duty or deployment? Bullshit

It is a bullshit claim. The military is very thorough when it comes to determining the health of soldiers and where, when and how any injury occurred. If you have not experienced a traumatic situation, you have nothing to base a ptsd claim on. They use their own doctors and shrinks and they know exactly where every soldier was and what they were doing. I come from a long line of military members, some still serving, and I have heard stories of the hoops these soldiers go through to get compensation for injury. They aren't just handing out $70K to anyone who makes a claim.

Good. That would be total BS. Knew a girl who's sister was married to a regular army cock bag that shot himself on a deployment just to go home. Now he collects disability. He should be removed from the gene pool.

Active duty or even deploying overseas doesn't mean you'll ever see shit. It's a very small percentage of the military that's ever even shot someone. Yet a huge percentage collects disibility for ptsd. Unless you go to a local bar. Everyone's a war hero then.

For every 1 combat solider there are 12 soldiers that do support. So some combat soldiers might go on missions but never be directly shot at or acquire an enemy person in their sights and fire. Also, many support people don't leave the base ever. Some do but not many.

Some soldiers legitimately suffer from ptsd without ever leaving the country. My brother is a SAR Tech, he's removed bodies, including babies, from crashed planes. He's alright, but I'm sure it takes a mental toll on some.

Fuck you who are you to judge another person's suffering. What doesn't give one person PTSD will give another person crippling PTSD. Everyone's bodies and neurochemistry varies.
You should shut your uneducated mouth

And what generation would that be? Spoken like someone without a fucking clue. You have no idea of his age (50...not a kid) but you automatically use generalizations. I'm sure my brother and his buddies would be real interested in hearing your opinion on how YOU think their job should effect them...just before they beat you senseless! You wouldn't have the balls to do their job for 5 minutes...and you sure as fuck don't have the balls to confront them with your tough guy routine. These guys risk their lives every day saving lives...they would put themselves at risk to save your sorry ass without hesitation.

Typical liberal pussy Canadian hate.

PTSD originally came from people who were victims of traumatic situations. Victims that is. Even my cansof friend says you're a bunch of vaginas. I can judge because I've seen more battle. Pussys I tell you.
