I'm new to growing, so far I've done..

1x berry bomb auto, under a cheap unbranded Chinese led and she was on 12/12 most of her life because I had a photo as well, got 28g from her but it was some seriously tasty bud

1x gorilla bomb, also under the Chinese led, topped once, and the last 2 weeks she got the viparspectra 300w added to the mix
Only had 4 short colas but that's one of them in my profile pic

1x auto ultimate, died due to root rot because i had crappy drainage :(

Currently have 1x cream manderine and 1x uk cheese vegging

And the girl with all the heads is the only one I have on flower just now (since the auto died) and she's a gorilla bomb too

Yo just piggybacking here, I'm thinking of getting a second tent for perpetual, 4x4 veg only, and was considering viparspectra, I've only got a 200-250 budget for a light and diy cobs I'm not opposed to but they're still pretty pricy, if I get that area covered and they cost around the same I'd rather go for a prebuilt. But what you guys think would do for that, the 900w model from vipar (418 actual draw) is one im considering but my wallet is crying out in anguish.

CMH is a kind of great grow light. Less energy, less heat, balanced full spectrum, higher quality and

Nice, but leds cuz I'm already running an hid, and I'm pretty sure posting on an led thread gives ya a jehovas witness type vibe, no offense, just we wouldn't be here if we wanted to convert.

Since you have HID, I don't think LED will help, unless some energy saving. LED for veg and HID for flower.

Yeah that's the plan cuz I already had a ventilation system which goes hand in hand with hid, led to veg so I can perpetual harvest. All I meant was people going for led usually got reasons for it so pushing hid lights in a thread like this.. well there's better places to probably.

Look into Samsung F-series strips instead - you could put together a pretty decent light for $250.

I was actually thinking a 5 cob diy, be like 250 watts or so and a similar or less price
Coverage would suck. Six of the 44" Sammies and an LRS-350-24 power supply is under $200. Mount them to architectural U-channel and frame them together with angle for about $50. Add four more strips and 200 more watts to it when you are ready to flower.

I understand how to make a frame and make the apparatus to mount everything to and can do that well, but have no idea what hardware you just mentionned

Could you explain the lights/driver type pieces that need to be bought and pieced together?? Lots of solderring etc?? Specifically if the 10 strips total you mentiioned at the end could be run off of the same driver.

Would appreciate that to the moon

You sure on that? I'd only need to veg for that and I made my eyes bleed looking up how to diy cob today, basing this off of HydroRed, he using only 4 for a 40x40 inch space veg and it's doing well

It wouldn't be terrible, but no where near what the 44" LED strips would provide. Check this PPFD chart I made for my samsung strip build. Better coverage than 20 cobs provide in a 4x4. Yea, 20. I know this because I have a PPFD chart saved of a 20 CXB3590 cob build in a 4x4 tent and it is no where near this good haha

I'll have to look into it, I learnt everything diy cob in a single day, too. Much. Information. Looks like I get to suffer tomorrow as well lol
