Voles are killing plants!!

My old landlord has had 3 plants die in the past few days from Voles chewing on the stalks until they chew them all the way around and the plant dies. They have some in boxes, and some in grow bags like mine, and 1 that died was in a grow bag. So the Vole must have climbed into the bag. Anyone had this problem? Any suggestions as to what to do to protect my girls from this happening? Any reasonable ideas would be helpful.

I thought about some fake owls honestly. I was told before I did the big 40 grow last year that if you put owl houses up they'll move in and you won't have problems with wood rats, voles, moles or gophers. Next year for sure!!

With Voles you usually have a small hole in the ground that they live and tunnel in..Get some mouse/vole poison pellets and drop them down the Voles hole.
Thats how I got rid of them.

the make these sonic things that you put in the ground to drive them away and there solar powerd
Done some research and those sonic vibrating gadgets don't work. I think I'm just gonna have to go spend 80 bucks for a roll of hardware cloth, and do the labor of wrapping the bags. It's always somethin'!!

wtf is a vole? i simply have to ask, but now after reading the thread some more i've come to the conclusion that a vole must be some sort of a rabbit, but damn, i've never heard of a vole in my life, in my life..

yea those sonic things are total bs .. we used them on gophers and got nil... but what does work is this industrial poison ( pills that turn into a gas and kill everything in the warren) I used one in my front yard a few months back and I no longer have gophers .. .. In fact nobody in my neighborhood has them anymore and we were fucking infested with the little bastards. I'll take a picture and let you know what it was.

yep, the decision is made. I'll be going out to get a roll of hardware cloth this morning, and I'll wrap the bags around the bottom, and I'll put a ring around the top of the bag too in case they get by the first one (under it possibly cause I will not be able to get it very deep cause the ground is too hard there). I guess while I'm in town today, I might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone and pick up my bamboo stakes and 1" slats I use to cage the big girls and get busy today.
There will be picture updates tonight on my thread, of my hard work!! haha

thanks but I put up cages tody, and spread some coyote piss around. All my research turned up carnivore pissbeing the best deterent, and protecting the plants is the second best thing to do. The populations are heavier than normal this year I'm hearing and trying to kil em' all is an all day job! haha.
