ph is to low try uping the ph to around 6.8 make sure you check the drainage or run off same thing. also check the water before and after you add your nutes. You wont be needing nutes for awhile though just straight ph'd soil and water will be good for probably a month depending on how much growth. With a ph that low in soil you are basically just strangling your plants to death. Also if you would like to save some money on electricity you could use some cfl's or flourecents to get those seedlings started, there will be no difference in yield actually i have noticed that seedlings seem to like the cfl's quite a bit, but if not the metal halide is fine.

test your sink water, if its above your soil PH then yes adding sink water will raise your PH, if it is lower than your PH it will lower it.

PH should be neutral in purified water.... so my best guess would your tap water would have a higher alkaline reading meaning + on the ph scale. so im theory yes, but you cannot accurately up your ph with this means w/o testing after you add it and given it time to disperse evenly... just get the ph up solutions its accurate and easy

i took one of my seedlings out of the tent and put it in a room with only a 40W CFL and it is starting to look more green and actually seems to be growing faster than the others that are in my tent with a 400W MH conversion bulb(if the others are even still growing at all) so i started wondering if it could be the bulb anyone ever heard of a bum bulb of if the MH conversions are even any good? next person who stumbles on this PLZ help

Try leaving your seedlings under the 40w CFL for a couple days: I might give them a little bit to grow before exposing them to a big ol' blast of MH light.

What is your watering schedule like? I know that everyone is trying to tell you it is your pH, and you are worried about the light (which may be just a little tiny bit more than you need. I veg under a 400W HPS, and I keep it about 3 feet from seedlings. I let them stretch a little bit at first and then get it where it needs to be.) However, The stunted growth and color of the plants seems like overwatering to me. You need to give the soil plenty of time to dry out before watering. Don't keep the soil moist; soak it thoroughly, and then soak it again when it is bone dry. The roots need oxygen in order to function properly. If they are in wet soil all of the time, they are drowning.

well i also thought lack of Co2 could be the problem so i put a sugar and yeast mixture in there to see if it helps but so far nothing, i havent waterd in like 3 days the soil is drying up but i still havent seen any growth in about a week, you think the plants are fucked ?

the pots i got at wall-mart and they have drainage holes i havent seen any water come out of them and the soil is just about as dry as it can be so im gonna water i guess, my camera is out of batteries so i cant take a pic but they are about the same size as on the first page(at 2 Fin weeks) and the leafs that come out first are now about half way gone burnt and shriveld looking, and as far as circulating i have a AC rigged right into the room for fresh and cool air, i mean could they be bum seeds? im out of ideas here
