Being a first timer you hear all sorts of good things to try and bad. So I'm close to harvest and all the reading I've done as yet to mention this. Now that after cutting you are supposed to wash the fruits of your labor.

Wander over to the Harvest and Curing forum and do some reading. For years all I've done is harvest when ready, trim while wet, dry and jar.

The only reason I would ever wash my grow is for one, if it were outdoor. Or for 2 is if it had bugs of any kind.
Yep, I’ve washed outdoor buds before trim, and used a sprayer during flower. Dust, insects, feathers, bird shit can all make for some gross product if conditions aren’t nice. I know Jorge Cervantes recommended for powdery mildew, but I have never needed to do it for that particular reason.

Not necessary for indoor, I wouldn’t ever think... I had a buddy shower one of his plants with drywall dust during a “grow room upgrade” mid flower, he took it into the shower and used the sprayer on it. It finished out fine.

Shocking what floats out of the buds of an outdoor crop, lol.

If you DID want to wash your outdoor crop, I have used a big (50+ gallon) tote with Fresh water running through it to overflow (so the top layer is always flowing off). Dip the buds in, let it flow for a second or two, And pull it out.

Why wash your buds?

Just like you wash your vegetables before eating them, it's probably a good idea to wash Cannabis before consuming it as well. How big an impact it makes will depend on the environment the buds were grown in. Was it outdoors or indoors? Was the indoor garden sealed or ventilated? Was any sprayed on the plant, ie food or pest control?

My flowering room is sealed, and I don't spray anything my plants. I certainly understand why it's important to some of the growers here that spray their plants weekly. My wash water actually didn't get too dirty. Yes, it certainly appeared to have cleaned something off. Even in my sealed room there will be dust and dirt on the plants.

I'm a first time grower and I washed a harvested plant today. I had to get off powdery mildew that I had been fighting for weeks. I rinsed them in baking soda, peroxide and fresh water baths. It did a great job but I'm a little paranoid that maybe mold will set in if I'm not careful. I will repost to let you guys know how I made out. I grew outdoors in 5 gallon buckets by the way.
