I think they both have certain advantages. Some claim either yield is better. I'd do what you think you could pull off.

Hey wanabe your babies are growing so quickly and look great. I've Topped and LSTed my plant before and had excellent results. I even cloned the top that I cut. Top 1st, then Lst them.

They look insane for just a week. You must have really established an emotional bond with them..lol. They are definitely coming to papa. Gunna be some big girls, but thats cool because big girls need love too.;p

I'm a begginer myself and ur closet looks very close to mine and i also grow under CFLs.

Don't be fooled, they are strong now, healthy strong, however emotionally they could have animosity toward you, or people in general, yes, as human as they seem, we must remember, they are plants. So they, at this point have not decided whether to help you, or grow some knock out sleepy stuff, to get even with you for some perceived aggression.
True wanabe, you have made them comfortable to date, and you have a good chance of winning their heart, but like humans, the teen years can be rough, so you have to overlook some behaviors, unless they are truly detrimental. If you have been kind, then they will come around when they are old, and their hair is gray. It is then that they decide the exact ratio of their excretions, whether to relieve or attack, so to speak. Do tell them often that you only want the best for them.

It looks pretty straight forward. Then you could LST if you need too.
I topped beween the 5 & 6 node early on, before I found Uncle Bens Technique. I plan on following UB's topping Tek on my next grow. Then I let my plants do their thing. I just lightly bend them down when they're getting to close to the light.
Don't stress too much man, it's supposed to be relaxing.

Topping is boring and pretty much over after one snip except maybe watching after growth. lsting is more challenging and gives you something to do while interacting with your plants. But if you lst i suggest topping first, i mean why not double the pleasure right????? what are the specs on your box by the way? and last the 23 watt 6500 light bulbs arnt any hotter than the 18 watts you bought and they put off alot more light....However the 2700 cfl's they are a different story. So if your box is that temp with just 6500 lights expect to add anywhere between 5-20 degrees onto that with the 2700 cfls when you switch. Just adding my 2 cents!!!!

I just finished building a light, out of a Dish Network dish, with a 70W HPS in center, and 6 CFL's around it. I put the ballast in an old computer backup power supply case, used a 4 wire cord with 4 wire 20A plug. This carries the power to CFL's, and the power to HPS bulb from ballast, as well as a ground. Painted the dish white, and it seems to work pretty good, my girls are about two foot tall, all bent over anyway

those are looking really nice, small and bushy not stretching at all. I digg the big fat leaves.
Looks like you've got the lights at just the perfect height form the plants. Try to keep that constant through the entire grow and you plants will keep their nice clean shape.
Becasue you are using small CFL's, then as the plant gets bigger it will be real important to keep the bulbs close to the plants but also to do some LST to maximize the light getting to all parts of the plants not just your top level leaves.
