Nope, mistake in translation - lol.

There are bacteria that "inhabit/live on/colonize" the roots....Many others do not! They need somewhere else to "colonize" and live....Some add a filter pad or a handful of hydroton in the plants pot bottom. Others run the tank through a filter pad for that holds the "colony"...


Not feed them!

Got it, yup didn't quite understand the question. I don't add anything extra. I run hydroton in 6" netpots in dwc, pretty standard, and I run no media LP aero/nft hybrid in flower. I'll do double doses of the Hydroguard every 2-3 weeks in flower as a precaution, to bolster colony numbers. Haven't had an issue in over a year now, fingers crossed.
