yeah, the 30 ought 6 is a big round. For buck hunting, i like to use my .270 or .308, but usually the .270. My glock is a .45, although my brother has a comanche .45 long colt and a taurus judge... all nice weapons.
I remember when hunters would go to my grampas ranch hunting boone and crocket bucks with 30-06 and when we would gut and cape them, there was nothing left. poor animal, i just think it is overkill...
ive been wanting to get a remington model 700 .204... it is extremely fast, like 4500 fps or so... i would love to use that when we go jack rabbit hunting... right now we use a .17 hmr,, nice little round that has some power...
Your 30-30 should do the trick. I have a Taurus .45 and I love it, and the tracker titanium is soooo light and it's fires really smoothly. Check it out.
I have always used a 30-06 or 30 ought 6 when going into the woods. It'll stop just about anything.
