By sounds of how much you know about weed itself (you didn't state a weight, strain, or even if YOU think it's really good shit, just that youre brother said it was) I'd say there is a very high chance your were ripped off or at least got taken advantage of, cuz that's what my sister did when I first started smoking, I'd buy a bag and it was pinched HEAVILY every damn time. And she also made me leave my bags at her house cuz I didn't want to get caught with stinking bud going home and it would be half gone by the time I got back up to her house the next day, I finally caught on and got really pissed at her one day cuz she basically smoked a whole eighth and left a bowl and expected me not to notice! Her excuse was that she was the one who started me smoking and she was the one who found the bud for me. Needless to say I found my own connects quickly, and bought my own pipe cuz that was another excuse for her to leech bud off me. Sorry had to vent there, my sister was and is a seriously selfish leech.

True words here - Find your own connect, shouldn't be hard, also BUY A SCALE, they cost you like $30 and are worth the piece of mind. Keep in mind that scales are intent to distribute, so if you are caught with one, and some herb, you basically get charged for trying to sell the herb. So when you buy, you can go home, scale it, and if there are any problems you can call up whoever hooked it up. Try to find someone that's into hooking people up for the long term, it's profitable for them to sell to you again, and again, and they know your wont buy from them if they short you on a sack, they wont make much money.
That sucks though, your own sister? When ever my brother was visiting and wanted some bud he'd usually try to give me way more than I'd ask for

You didn't really explain why you think you got ripped off.
It doesn't take a whole lot of smoking/buying experience to know the difference between getting ripped off and not.
$30 = 2.5 g
You Got Ripped Off If:
. they took your money and ran
. they obviously pinched the sack
. they sell you fake buds
. they sell you wet buds
. they sell you moldy buds
. the amount is considerably smaller than what's reasonable
- And IMO if you didn't see it weighed out in front of you, you got "ripped off."

If you got a gram for 30, id say you definitely got ripped off. You could get a good 2.5-3.5 grams for 30 in canada.
