Flushing to early and not providing enough nutrients during critical bloom phase will result in fluffy airy buds absolutely. If you dont provide the correct environment and dont provide proper nutrients will turn buds to fluff and airy crap with limited to no smell. Also harvesting too early thinking buds are ripe and they arent results in fluffy buds as well. Its a tight window you need to harvest within. I think the issues of fluffy airy buds you got had nothing to do with topping and was merely an issue with nutrients and enivronment and possibly early harvest.

I can leave u rest assured that topping did not cause fluffy airy buds!! 110% positive. Its something you did wrong. I have never topped a strain and had fluffy buds because of it never ever. Never even heard of such a thing.
