use just tap water and adjust as needed. Noneed to boil, too much trouble ,waste of electricity and you may burn yourself or the kids, as a lot of water is going to be used.

Use tap water and let it evaporate for a day or two to get most of the chlorine out. Or buy a Reverse osmosis filter if your water is very hard.

Boiled tap water will be no better then regular tap water. You should take Ronjohns advice and just let the tap water sit for 24 ours for the chlorine to evaporate off. But if you want the best water possible, then go get a reverse osmosis filter. But they are very expensive and for every gallone of water you get, 2-3 gallon will be going down the drain. But if you use R/O water, you will have to add Calmag to replace the trace nutrients that were remove by the filter.

Just because water smells and taste bad does not mean it would be bad for your plants. You can take a 1 gallon jug of your tap water to your city health department and have them test it for about $15-$20 dollars. This is a lot cheaper then a $500 R/O fiilter system, that you have to replace the filters on about ever 6 months at $150. This is what the one I bought cost me, about 3 years ago. i just use tap water now.
