A mixture of pure h20 and suger. I was wondering if bud planfs utilize it fhe same as other plants. Its suppose to help with intake N usage of nutr and also help root/plant growth. Can anyone co-sign to this? I am very curious.

The plant likely doesn't want Kool Aid..

There may be a place for advanced gardening techniques, but for your average person I would say 'grow a few harvests' before tring to reinvent the wheel.

Whatever that's worth.

I don't know about using the kind of sugar you'd use at the kitchen table, but don't worry you're not crazy! ;) In the vegetative stage, I wouldn't imagine adding extra 'sugar' would be overly important as if the plant is provided with adequate nutrients it should have no problems manufacturing these sugars itself. However, when it comes to flowering I do know people who swear by adding Molasses; specifically Blackstrap Molasses (provided you grow in soil.) This is basically giving the plant extra sugars/carbohydrates in a form that the plant can almost readily use, there are actually a lot of nutrient additives you can get that contain molasses. Most 'organic bud enhancer' type additives I've come across are largely molasses based.

There's bound to be threads on it, give it a search! Hope this helps.

Like its funny you say that I know another grower who uses pure orange juice(not concentrate) for cal and mag defs. I havent tried this method yet but according to him it works. He says use 1/4 cup orange juice per quart of water.

I've never heard of using orange juice before. Personally, if I were to treat a nutrient deficiency, I'd first want to know what caused the problem and if it was just a lack of those specific nutrients then I'd use something designed to treat those nutrient deficiencies. However, Cal and Mag defs are more often caused by either certain nutrients being far too abundant which then locks out Cal or Mag, or your pH being wrong causing those nutrients to become unavailable to the plant (more common in hydro than soil as soil can handle a much broader pH range before problems start occurring.)
In the chart linked below, you can see how on the soil chart, if the pH drops to 6.4 or lower, then Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorus become unavailable to the plant.

That said, if your mate uses orange juice to treat his problem and it works for him, then who can argue with that. It would be interesting to know exactly why it works.

I would just like to point out that too much sugars/carbs can actually hinder the uptake of Nitrogen.

Molasses/sugars/carbs actually benefit the good bacteria/fungi that colonise within the rhizosphere of your plants root system.

Plants can uptake simple sugars somewhat but the benefits of adding these to your soil grows is to give the friendlies a boost of said carbs which in turn help to feed the plant by converting organic matter into useable elements.

Mychorhizae and Trichoderma are 2 great fungi to add into your grows.

Mychorhizae attach to roots in effect extending the root hairs to allow grater uptake if nutrients and they feed on the exudates of the plants roots.

Trichoderma feeds on decaying root matter converting it into useable nutrients for the plants.
