onekama, checked out the grow. Very nice for ur first try on waterfarm. I cant get mine past 6 inches lol!!

Do you leave the drip ring pump on 24/7 on yours? How did u control PH??

I have found if i remove the ring, and go to just air stones in res., It will not make PH climb......I am assuming my hydroton pebbles are to blame????

I rinsed untill i didnt see anymore red water coming out of the strainer. I didnt soak for any period of time.
To confirm, I set PH to 5.5 last night before bed, and left the drip ring off.
12 hrs later at noon, PH is still at 5.5

Question:
Will leaving the drip ring off cause any problems?

I have a couple roots about 3 inches long coming out of a few holes in bottom. I assume these roots will do fine pulling up nutes and water untill the rest from the pebbles catch up.

My issue of not rinsing or soaking thoroughly is something i have already messed up, and can not start over because i have a plant growing in it right now. So, How would i stabilize hydroton with a plant still in the medium???

Very nice dawg hows the smoke? I'm about to switch my water farm to flower I just did some trimming today and about to do a res change.

My weekly update. PE at day 28 since germ, gave her a second and final topping 3 days ago and started LST same day. I had read other journals that had said PE can be somewhat stiff and unyielding and can break easily so I have been LSTing her gradually. Pulled all the branches completely horizontal after I took the photo below. Internodes are nice and short, I haven't had to deal with the temperature fluctuations of my previous grows despite being in an attic thanks to a recent move that gave me a far better insulated attic and the much larger Gorilla tent is a marked improvement over the POS 2x3 tent that I started growing in.

She has been problem free so far but I put that down to cutting my teeth on the waterfarm with my previous grow of Northern Light Blue.

Only having to ph down every other day now, pretty much holding steady between 5.8 - 6.5 and ppm's are at 800. Lights are still at 400 watts 7" above canopy with temps at 78 lights on and 69 off.

Going to give her at least another week before I consider laying down the screen and flipping the lights. I would like to go longer to ensure a big veg but summer temps here are a problem and I need her done no later than mid-May. So vegging two more weeks is my outside limit.

Made the new screen for my Gorilla tent last weekend and everything is humming along smoothly. Like many things in life I have found, boring and uneventful is good.

Increase her brix levels/carbohydrate and the branches will become more flexible.

Whats going on here is the moisture from the drip cycle is evaporating from within the hydroton and the residual salts that are left behind dry to the rocks. When the next drip cycle comes you are washing all that salt back into the main res and your pH skyrockets. It's the main reason I don't use flood tables filled with hydroton anymore.

Because I Can Reuse My Silica Rocks.Just Givem A Good Rinse And Bake On Broil For 45 Minutes And Their Ready To Grow Again

This Is True With A Flood Table However The WaterFarms DripRing Runs 24/7 And Most Of Us Take A 3/32 Drill Bit And Open Up The Holes A Bit More.You Also Have To Keep In Mind That The WaterFarm Lower Res Only Holds 2 Gallons And In Flower I Had My Lower Res Fill Up With Roots Allowing About A Gallon Of Solution.Thats Why I Make Mine With A 3 1/2 Gl Lower Res.

Ok ok. What powers the drip ring? Pump? If so, do the temps raise from the pump 24/7?

I agree with the larger lower rez as most my hydro roots are out of control big. Gallon per day easy when blooming.

Hey thanks everybody for the responses....

I have thought about perilite, just not priced it yet. What other mediums can you use easily in a waterfarm??

My problem with climbing PH is over now. I keep the ring off and occasionally wash some water thru the pebbles to moisten the roots inside. I do this maybe 4 times a day though, so i can control any climbing PH this way easier than before.

My other thought was to use a bucket full of marbles, or decorative glass rocks to fill the bucket with. This would allow me running the drip ring 24/7 with no PH change, and keeping the top covered would eliminate any light penetration to the root zone......Any thoughts????

Would this be harmful to use the glass rocks in any way? Or deprive the roots of anything??

Brother Lilmafia You Can Use Anything You Want For A Medium.However You Want A Course Medium For The Water Driplets To Settle And Collect Oxygen Before Returning To The Res :peace:
