WaterFarm Issues

Hello All,

I have had one good go with soil last year and wanted to try Hydro this time. I got two waterfarm buckets, some hydroton, rockwool cubes and I now have a PH tester and PPM meter.

I am still having a hard time understanding how you are supposed to feed them. I have Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow A + B and I have been trying to get the right feeding schedule but not sure what exactly to do.

I have some rainwater on hand since I see that has a nice PPM but the PH is pretty high. The nutrients are supposed to be PH Perfect but I bet that has to be at the rate they give you so since they are seedlings that would and looks to have so far burned them pretty well.

So my question is as per the feeding nutrients chart on their site says:

Sensi Grow A1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz4.33 fl oz
Sensi Grow B1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz1.08 fl oz4.33 fl oz

So does that mean you need to feed it 1.08 fl oz total per week?

Going by the bottle says 4ML each for say regular sized plants. So 1.08FL OZ is = to 31.93941 ML so that divided by 7 is 4.56ML so that looks to be the case but this apparently is too high since the plant are yellow and rusty on the leaves that are there.

When you top off do you use water only? Or mix the nutrients as it says per day? Or do you measure PPM and try to get it to that point depending on the specific stage of growing?

Seems like there are too may variables that I think I know but when I start I get confused all over again.

Anyone have a nice foolproof way to feed in a waterfarm? Please be as specific as you can. Thanks!

Are you starting your plants from seeds in this system?
if you are in week one of a seedlings life it will be too strong and burn your babies.
If you are starting from a rooted clone it should be ok.

As Far As Feeding Schedules Are Concerned I Go By Ppm's.
0-150 Ppm Seedlings. Here I Run Only R/O Water Plus Cal/Mag.First 7 Days In The Farm
Week-1 150-200 Ppm
Week-2 200-300 Ppm
Week-3 300-450 Ppm
Week-4 400-650 Ppm
Week's 5 Till Flip To Flower 750 Ppm

I had to remember that I could always add more but it's hard to take 'em out. Now I'm starting to think it grows better with less.
I was pouring it to it for awhile.lol

Barnaby,
I had one waterfarm like you...as a means to get into hydro. I'm no expert and in fact, I'm very much a minimalist. I used maxi-bloom for whole grow using clone. Just a few general recollections. Because of high nutrient evaporation rate due to the air pump system: PPM tended to climb and it was easy to let it get too strong. So like the Dawg said...ease into the nutes and watch ph and you should do OK. You'll be amazed at the growth rate from all the aeration.
Cheers,
JD

Change out nutrient solution ebery 3 days or more often for best results with adult plants in waterfarms. Keep topped off with ph adjusted h2o between (best done with controller / float)
