waterfarm problem

hello all

i have just got a waterfarm and i started using it today. the problem i am having is that this glugging/knocking noise comes from the res and the water stops coming out of the drip ring. this happens intermittently and the water stops dripping for a while. its annoying as its bloody noisy when it does it too. if i pull up the top section so the pumping column is out of the water, then set it down again, the water starts dripping again. any ideas what the problem is? i guess i must have set it up wrong somehow?

also, how often should i run the pump, it is currently set to run 15 mins on 45 mins off, and is completely off when the lights are off - any good or do i need to run it 24/7?

First, make sure that you have enough water in the res. It hold approx 2.5 gallons. Next, make sure that your airstone is all the way at the bottom of the drip ring riser tube. I can't think of any thing else that it could be.

I run my waterfarm 24/7 no prob. Make sure that your drip ring is in contact with the hydroton or whatever you are using. Otherwise it will splash and make a mess. I run an additional air stone in my res for more oxy. on my next grow, I will cover the top of the waterfarm with something(not sure what yet)as I developed aphids in my rootzone.

thanks very much mister. i dont use an airstone yet, but i realised the pump tube i was using was not the one that came with the waterfarm, and was much longer, i think the extra length might have been the problem as it seems ok so far after i shortened it. thanks for advice about moving the drip ring down, ive done that now.
