Misting leaves is not needed, unless your trying to correct a lack of nutrients through foliar feeding, other than that misting can cause more harm than good from light burn & increaded risk of molds.
If your growing in soil with a sizeable planter then watering everyday is not needed & doing more harm than good, most likely stunting plant growth, weed plants prefer to have the soil go completely dry between waterings,by doing this you assure that fresh water carrying fresh oxygen can reach the inner root mass, soil that is constantly wet will not absorb fresh water & thus block new oxygen to reach the inner root ball, this will drown your plants.
A good way to tell if you need to water is to be obsewrvant of the leaves,if they begin to droop at all chances are you need to water, you should also be in contact with the soil, take your fingers & scarify the top inch or so of the soil, you'll be able to feel any moisture in the soil or if it's dry, scarifying the soil also helps control fungus gnats & other shittin ass lttle pests that live in or near the top of the soil.
From my experience every moisture meter ive seen/used was a peice of shit & only give false readings, even if you do run across a working model its better to have personal contact with the soil,it dont take long to learn when they need watering & before ya know it you'll be a pro.
