watering issue.

ok guys i'm planning my first outdoor grow in the upcoming seson. (i live in australia so it starts in october)
i have one problem though, i live in a very hot climate and i booked a summer holiday some time last year before i considered growing so i need a few suggestions as to how i can keep my plants nice and moist in 40+ temperatures for a few weeks. it seems to be an impossible situation.

a good way is using 1.25-2L coke bottles with the bottom cut off and the drinking hole bit with a stocking on it, chuck one full one (with bottom still on) and two empty ones with the bottom off in the ground near the plant, the ones without bottoms will catch rain and continue to water the plant, and the full one will water the plant before the rain.

head to the hardwarestore (bunnings, mitre10, etc) and look around that they have some pretty good devices like that for "the drought" and for saving water and some shit. (or to a local nursery). remember to have a massive background info for growing a different plant (apples, or some crap) and that you want to make chutney or something. (only if they ask)

(you could also put a curled up hose just under the soil surface or under some mulch if its near your house, with some pin prick holes in it with the tap on just trickling and end closed off)

they've also got battery powered water hose control systems. they're for watering yard, it's got a control knob to set how often you want the water to run and another control knob to set how long it waters for. you can rig it up so that it will take water from a bottle or jug, and a shower head type of nozzle on the end so you can give your plant a shower at the same time each watering

you could also try the wick method, just google it, its mainly used for potted plants but ive sen it adapted to outdoor plants

u reckon if i get a 9 litre water bottle and fill it then run some thin surgery tubing with pin holes in it past my plants would that work?

not in 40+ heat for few weeks, id go with the hose trickling as katana suggested will work a treat

only problem with that is, his plant might be out in the scrub...
just put mulch (grass/barchunks/watever) over a bigger area around the plant that should also keep the ground more moist in total.(along with various idea's or other ideas people comeupwith)
checking out some further ideas...
i'v seen big corrigated tubing (1m in lenth, 12-16cm in diamiter) thats been dug into the ground, i dont remember the specifics, but i think it worked like the bottle idea, but was on a larger scale (hence 1m in the ground with about 4.4L of water in it)
it should rain aswell tho, its ~40* in the day but you should get some afternoon storms atleast once a week (hopefully) just use google bom, and check the weather out.
