Watering my babies

I've got six seeds planted, but not sprouts yet.

I'm lighting them with (4) 27w CFLs 6700k, and the soil on top is getting pretty dry. My moisture tester is in the mail so I can't test using professional equipment....

I just planted them yesterday. The soil was fairly moist and I even watered them a little once planted.

Would it be OK to give them more water since the soil is getting dry? I'd hate to start my ladies off on the wrong foot, ya know?

Any feedback is appreciated...is watering a little extra for the first few days OK until it gets itself developed then back down to a few times a week?

You really should water measuring soil dryness vs a few times a week. It's the best way for you plant to get maximum grow because when the soil is PARTYLY dry the roots go searching for water increasing root mass and growing your plant. So dryer is better than overwatering, overwatering BAAAAD... Go by the dryness of the soil....

Hope this helps, Good Growing!!!

...it really doesn't.

I know to use the tester once I get it...but I don't have it. So until then, 'going by the soil' right now would tell me to water since it's dry...but this is my first time so I don't want to ruin it by overwatering...like you mentioned.....

You said 'Hope that helps'.

It didn't IMO, so I was clarifying....

If that's being an ass, then I'm guilty :blsmoke:

No, not mad just think saying crap like that when someone trying to help you, is stupid and rude, but no biggie, i just hate when no one tries to help me, you asked a question i answered it, i was just trying to help you out.

Good growing.

But that's the thing I wasn't trying to be rude, honest

I know I somewhat answered my own question, but I guess I needed someone with experience to tell me I was doing the right thing
Your feedback is appreciated

hi, novice here, when i planted i kept the dirt wet and got 9 of 9. i know this is isnt normal but it still worked. i germinated in a paper towel which was great and they all grew fairly well. until you have a root it wont breath.
