Mountain Dew is my favorite soda. I limit myself to one can a day though. My teeth are in pretty good shape.

I saw a post on here a while back about using it for the minerals and what not but i cant find it now. I dont wanna use it if its gonna harm my soil life in any way.

I'm real interested in seeing a side by side if you're game to do the study. One plant with sparkling water and one plant grown without.
Even if you only grew the plants for say, 6 weeks from seed. That'd be a good experiment to try. It'd make for interesting reading. Better than most threads anyway. Certainly better than the semen thread.

Soda added to soil feeds bacteria. Not plants. You should water it down first by about 100%. Same with urine. Peeing on plants sounds good to hippy millenials but the salt content in urine makes it a bad choice. You can however pee directly onto your compost pile because the organics in the soil mitigate the salt. The nitrogen in pee is great for plants and if you water it down first you can use it directly on plants.

Is the difference between supersoil set ups and no til just how it’s mixed in the pot ?

I’m on my first grow and I went super soil. Super soil at the bottom with the rest filled with base. The pinned thread wasn’t super clear on the differences so I assumed it was the same.

lol this is a strange thread to ask this question... but i'll help you out :)

super soil is "super" in that it's waaaaaaaaaay overkill on the amount of inputs, which is why sub had problems with burning plants that are too small for all that nutrient content. it overloads the solute concentrations in the plants vascular tissues and stresses them out. That's why he only put it in the bottom of the container, so when a plant's roots reached it they were ready to explode with growth. The recipe evolved through trial and error by sub.

no-til generally tends to be a more mild, but entirely adequate, soil in a large container (20+ gallons) that never leaves the pot once you get it established. you can harvest a plant and replant in the same container the same day. no-til takes some getting used to because you have to topdress your amendments between grows to ensure the soil is not depleted of nutrients. the benefits of no-til though are a soil that is highly microbially active because it is minimally disturbed. this allows organisms to find niche homes in the soil and thrive in response to the plant. The plant and microbes communicate with one another through the use of exudates for food delivery. This is a very old relationship that works on a higher level than we currently understand. that's why growing organically makes the most sense, the plant is more than capable of acquiring its own nutrients when the soil food web is in balance.
