damn thats a lot of info the lighting alone is fucking confusing and i think ill just go with the cfl for now i i wouldn't mind using a ballast and ventilation but running out of a window is a no go because it would face the street (front of my house) i found this same one you posted
http://www.powergrowsystems.com/hydroponic-products/hydroponic-garden-systems/complete-hydroponic-garden-systems.html

if i go with this which one should i get/make 6'' or 10''?? i think if i get/make 2 i should be good for just starting out
also if i can make this set up for cheaper then i will like you said I'm just still confused on how this setup works it just seems easier to buy these but what do you think?

i know in the mushroom world buying kits is a waste of time and money i do everything from scratch when it comes to mycology but marijuana is a complete different thing

Well you don't need to throw it out your window. Could be to an attic or something along those lines. You will need to intake cool air though. You can easily get a good yield with cfl. But don't expect more than a couple of ounces. So figure out the costs and stuff. 6" " pot is best 10" has a lot of pebbles. They can grow algae and stuff if left alone. You would need a drip system to keep them watered at all times. You got YouTube? They will definitely have bids to see how they work. Basically you are using air pumps to give it oxygen. The pebbles are a medium to keep it from falling. The nutrient water is changed every week. Nothing to it basically. Keep your water at a good pH level and you're set.

ok so i need to get the bucket set ups and a drip system too do the hydro stores have drip systems and are they just those big plastic boxes with a pump and an airstone that the buckets sit in so it recirculates the water?
also how do you intake cool air with a mini air conditioner? or is that pic you posted with the ballast the only way to vent?

You don't need a drip ring for 6" pots. I recommend you do 6". All you would need are airstones to keep nutrients aerated and give roots oxygen. The vent is just to cool the bulb area. It gets really hot. Especially with a 1000w hps/mh bulb. Which a reflector with a cool tube needs so it doesn't get too hot. You might be able to get away with an air conditioner and a 400w Hps or mh bulb. No duct fan, just good ventilation. A ballast is an external strong powered source. You need it to run hid bulbs. A normal socket would blow in your face OE can even cause fires. So you need the extra boost without rewiring your whole house. Make sense? Keep in mind that these are expensive.http://m.ebay.com/itm/150656047425?nav=SEARCH&varId=450035610013

Sorry I got busy man. Yeah nutrients. PH kits. And that's about it. They might have high watt cfl bulbs there. Check those out. Home depot ones will do though. As long as they are over 5000k lumens and cool bulbs. By cool I mean as in temp. Low heat bulbs. That's about it man. Welcome to the hydro era. Haha. The next few days you should do A TON of research. This forum helped me but I also asked people and I bugged the hell out of my hydro shop. Haha. They didn't seem to mind. Ask if the have the latest hydro catalog. All shops have free ones. If you need info hmu or post a thread.

1000 bucks for everything? Dude, that is a rip. Yeah it'll be good if you can afford it and they hook you up with everything professional, but easily with 500 below you'll be growing like a pro. Remember that they are salesman, no disrespect to your homeboy, but I'm sure he was trying to sell you a gorilla tent. Am I right? Hes a salesman, I'm a salesman, our job is to be bad ass salesman, by what, by selling the expensive shit. Trust me, you can easily get started with 300-500 for his bulb setup and tent all vented up and ready to go. Its all about being innovative and waiting to research other things that can better benefit you for a lower price. Hydro isnt cheap, but 1000 bucks, shit, you must be ready to grow like a pro. Ease into it man. Spend the amount you think you'll get out of your plants. An ounce of kush depending on what strain, can range from 200-400, in illegal states, so just do the math. I spent 250, I'm looking to get 4 oz at least with my a mature setup, so it'll give me 800-1200, but im not selling. This is all personal use. Its all up to you. Remember electricity with those bulbs get expensive, so make a reasonable amount and try to do your math. 1000w bulb will easily increase your bill by a little more than half, from what I researched. Plus air pump, fan, etc. 1000bucks is a lot to start off. But if you can do it, I'm all for it. It'll be interesting to see a new grower like myself start with that much and to see how you'll do. Good luck on that. EBay has tents too. Good sturdy sheds under 100$ for sure.

ok im not sure if it was a gorilla tent but whn i was looking at prices for ballasts and inline fans and shit it was already well over 500 just for that stuff that wasn't even including the tent but the thing that bugs me is the energy bill going up by more than 1/2??? that fucking sucks there gotta be a cheaper way... and i figured 1000 was to much for just starting out but i don't wanna be bullshiting around with all this stuff spending money on this and that and eventually ending up spending 1000 anyways I'm obviously gonna do more research and take all the advice from you and everyone on here

i found this video its pretty basic

That's perfect. Should be good for 4 plants. Maybe more if in a confined tent. How are you going to cool it? You should look for some with a cool tube. The reflector is a glass tube with wings. Its better to just attach inlines at each side to cool it. Or ducts. 600w is still good. Just try and research if you can get a way with out cooling them. Idk how hot they'll get, but I can bet anything those things get super hot without cooling them. Check these out, just an example.http://m.ebay.com/itm/150796160588?nav=SEARCH&varId=450073913238
