This thread is great.
Sarcasm? I really put my head on the chopping block posting this, but I'm an older guy that doesnt really care anymore. Thats the nice thing about getting older, you really dont care what people think. But I do try to play nicely though----(hint hint to the cackling hyena crew on this forum)This thread is great.
Every debatable topic has been touched, along with music theory and the Kurt Cobain effect. No politics so far. No mods coming in here threatening to bust up the joint. I was called a "poison cunt" by a Scottish man who was having a meltdown over flushing. This is as good as it gets.Sarcasm? And who knows how many are doing it wrong, .The best teacher is experience, time, and dedication. It’s cool to listen to others, and take from it what you will. Ultimately it’s like wiping your ass, your parents taught you the basics, it’s up to you to take what they taught you, and apply it to your own understanding, and what works for you. Believe me they dreamed that someday you’d be able to master the art of wiping your ass, so they don’t have to buy diapers anymore. Only you can wipe your ass the right way. It’s trial and error! Hopefully my word choosing was entertaining as well as insightful! Good luck

I’m going to guess that the ph is off in your growing mediumFirst day week 7 after 12/12 flip. The bottom fan leaves are roasting and you can see purple in the remaining fan leaves, those are doomed to drop soon but so far the buds are hanging in there, (although much smaller than I had hoped for).... I'm liking the manifold technique !
Plan to go another 2-3 weeks, fingers crossed that my flowers stay healthy. I still dont know why the leaf tips are pointing down--shes trying to tell me something.
Took this pic tonight. She seems to like the bloom nutrients, we'll see how it goes.

Yes It may be ! But to save my life, I dont know how to check soil PH (Posted in my original thread). Its almost impossible to get to the soil now (let alone the soil in the root zone) so I dont really know. I've researched EC and PH meters, but thats a headache on its own.I’m going to guess that the ph is off in your growing medium
You have to weed out the different things that could go wrong. I would start at checking runoff PH, and ppm in the soil by doing a slurry test. I just had my plants doing the same 24hrs later it was corrected by giving straight Ph’d water, and I did a foliar feed for good measure. I want to go into flower completely healthy. By the way your plant looks great. The correct answer? A bidet ! nothing beats it. Although nothing beats a good shower or simply sticking your ass in the sink. Toilet paper is for newbs.
Good stuff, I'm already getting to the point where I just listen and take notes but question everything people say. Someone else made a good point that there are many different directions and techniques to use while growing, so what is right and wrong is in definite gray area.
I would like us to all come together on terminology though, thats some really silly stuff. Is a flush feeding plain water before harvest, or is flooding your soil with many gallons of water to remove salts? When you say flower, do you mean 12/12 or after first sign of flower, etc.. We should all have a vote and stick with the decision so newbies like me dont get all confused and post sill threads like this.
You aren’t wrong! Especially where I live they’re a bitchEggplant are harder to grow.
Thanks, appreciate the post. I've done a few slurry tests with RO water and the results came in neutral, around 6.8-7.0. But that was when I could get to the soil. I also did the baking soda and vineger test to see if it bubbled and there wasnt much of a reaction (showing neutral soil). In my past grows with this soil, the PH dropped drastically around this time and PH'd below 5.0. So, this grow is a little bit of an experiment using less PH up and down and relying on the soil to buffer things. You have to weed out the different things that could go wrong. I have never seen anyone advise to harvest too late. It is nothing but a helpful service to encourage someone to wait for ripeness when 99% of people harvest early and have disappointing results, leading them to look for shortcuts via additives and other BS.You noticed the "you have four years more to go to harvest" crowd too? I've been watching them and they really love to torture folks and I'm not sure their advice is right. They just seem to love to say it has a lot longer to go for some odd reason. (Note sometimes their right) but most of the time I just think they like busting someones bubble that is excited to harvest.\
Blue labs for the win! I like Apera ph meter, blue labs makes a soil ph meter, I love blue labs truncheon Ec aka ppm meter! I like Athena once I mix core, then grow, and add cal/mag it gives me a perfect ph. Athena alone runs acidic but once I add Cali magic the solution says wowla! I’m not sure if I spelled that correctly. LolYes It may be ! But to save my life, I dont know how to check soil PH (Posted in my original thread). The best I've been able to do is measure water in and compare against runoff PH. At the moment, my PH is a little high (I think) but that may be my mistake. My previous grows got very acidic and I've been cutting down on the PH down and feeding a little higher than I normally would. If I was to guess I would say my PH is around 7.... I watered tonight and PH'd to 6.0.
I think you are way off. There is a good write up on how to tell when the plant is ripe. You noticed the "you have four years more to go to harvest" crowd too? I'm not sure why so many get pleasure out of others failures, its like they want you to do bad so their posse can come out like a pack of cackling Hyenas. They must have miserable lives and this is all they have.
As far as trichomes, this should have gone on my list. There are many very different opinions on when to harvest. I myself watch the plant, seems to me they kinda tell you when they are done.
1. From my newbie standpoint, when water consumption drops (drastically) thats a sign
2. Yellowing of leaves. When it gets real yellow, that can be a sign (Senescence not a deficiency)
3. Pistols, watch for the percentage of brown to white---another clue that can get you in the ballpark. (when most pistol are brown and curling in)
4. Trichomes--- I watch for everything to cloud up with a few amber showing. This is very strain dependant though. If tricomes are clear, it needs a bit longer. My Northern Lights never seems to amber up on the buds, but the sugar leaves are covered in amber. (I go with cloudy and a few amber to harvest NL)
5. Swelling of the calyx is another thing I watch for.
6. This is my own, so it could be very wrong, but it seems to me the buds kinda shrink a llittle but towards the very end. (or tighten up)
Anyway, I could be way off but a loupe and tricomes is my main way to check before harvest......correct me if I'm way off !
