Website cost

Hi, I want to ask how much a basic website should cost? By basic I mean initially without payment facilities, moving graphics (sorry dont know the correct IT terms) etc. Just text and photos but stylish. I am working on a charity project its my own money basically so cant spend a lot. Need to know the approx cost..any ideas?

Free for the CMS, you just have to cover hosting. So say 10 bucks a month.

Have a look at wordpress, joomla, or any other open source cms (content management system). They are all simple to install and from the get-go you have a back end management interface to update the website etc. A lot of hosts also offer 1 click installation of the cms' so all you have to do is go to a host sign up for an account click 1 button and you got a website. It will take you maybe a week to learn the basics and you have all the money in your pocket.

all you really have to pay is hosting which is only 10-15 USD per month

I charge anywhere from $1200-$3000 for customized WordPress templates. You could do it yourself if you played around and did some reading.

Yes there are free templates. Also you can buy better templates for a small fee. I can usually tell who uses the "free" templates.

I make websites for a living, WordPress is free and easy. And free templates/designs... so just hosting is your cost if your willing to learn.

like everyone said above, a lot of easy ways. it all depends on how complicated you want to go and how much you can afford.

A year ago I literally knew nothing about websites, but now I make a full living off my own sites - it was a bit difficult at first, learning all the how-tos, and it's easy to waste your money on stuff you don't need. Basically, I buy each site for about $10 and pay hosting at $6 a month, which is for as many sites as I want. The rest I do myself. If you're willing to take some time and learn the stuff (playing around and trial and error) you can do it. If someone as lazy as me can do it, so can anyone!!
