Weed that dont get you high?

there is plenty of info on the subject but you have to know where to look. most stoneys dont read technical chemistry journals
Wrong! I have a masters degree in chemistry. There isn't a lot of data on the subject of "curing" pot. Most is anecdotal. If you can find legitimate scientific data on the subject then I would be most greatful if you would post a link. I have never seen it. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, simply that there isn't a lot of reliable info on the subject. You yourself said that proper drying is what activates the cannabinoids. He was talking about actual potency. Do cannabinoids change as they degrade? Sure they do. Do they actually become more potent? Doubtful. Curing is what is done to tobacco, not marijuana. Not true curing anyway. What we refer to curing is really nothing more than a slow drying process. I quick dry bud before I harvest, every single time. No cure at all and I get high as hell! That was my only point.

I agree you can still get real high, however why don't you put your masters to use and freakin cure it for once??? Check out the difference. As far as more thc becoming psychoactive...

I'm thinking you're depriving her of water before you chop????????? which I don't disagree with...but even with that done...ease up a little and try curing for 2 weeks or more with an ounce or so...you'll see...

better yet...even though you think you're not curing already...you're probably not smoking your entire harvest that day...so when it gets put into nice jars, kept in dark and opened every once and awhile for you smoke...yup, it is getting you higher and higher... (nice cure)

I agree that much of the "potency" -is- related to genetics once you get the harvest time and curing down...

Isn't it funny how when some people don't understand stuff they just get mad...he he he

there's tons of scientific data that explains non-psychoactive thc becoming psychoactive during the cure process...and I think you've got it a little mixed up...what's mostly "breaking down" is chloraphyll (forgive spelling) which tastes like kah kah lol....and starches in the plant that are turning to sugars which taste like bomb nugget...see?

I've seen and collected tons of data as me and associates have worked close with mmj doctors and lawyers to submit such studies. Real talk...next time you should grab a 60x-100x scope and peep those trichomes before choppin man...remember that most of the timeframes by seed companies are there to get you to buy the dang seeds!...just let her do her thing and she'll tell ya when she's ready ;)
i did pick up a Scope :) 12 bucks at radio shack.. never reliazed something so cheap could be so fun to play with.. anywho lol, the trics are all cloudy , now could it still be premature at this point ? ive been trolling the forums and ive read people havin cloudy trics in first few weeks.. now this is at least week 8 so it didnt seem right , yes probly sound real noobish as i am... first time grow hehe

Curing means preserving as well, where as drying is just drying, increasing degradation IMO.

I have done both and the benifits of curing outway just drying.

That said, you may have a weaker strain like a ruderalis cross, was it an autoflower? They aren't that strong in the best of conditions.

again IMO

My friend, I've been growing weed for the better part of 2 decades now. I've smoked cured, uncured, water cured, wet, damp, crispy dry, quick dried, slow dried...............just about every way you can think of, I've tried it. I actually do put my weed in jars and burp them and all that shit. I simply pointed out that "curing" has very little to do with potency. It may transform some of the cannabinoids but it doesn't make weed that won't get you high, all of a sudden fucking killer smoke! I was using jars to slow dry my weed long before there were pot forums or even Jorge's cannabible were around. Look at how cigar tobacco is cured. That is nothing like what is done with weed. I know, I know, it's called "curing" when you put weed into jars and dry it slowly but in reality it's not actually curing. To each their own bro. I don't care if people cure their weed or not. I simply pointed out that curing doesn't affect the potency as much as proper drying.

Where did you get the idea I was mad? Far from it my friend.

Yes you need to wait for 10-50% amber trichs depending on what kind of high you want. The longer you go the more weight youll pack on so dont chop yet if youre all cloudy.

Well, I'm thinking our opinions overlap more than you/we think buddy...I mean proper drying/curing are one in the same to me or at least in the same row, in the same boat lol

Menace...I had 2 strains that looked cloudy from week 2-9...craziness. I checked everyday with my freakin scope lol...when she's ready she'll go clear and then amber...just be patient my friend...there will be a 3-7 day window...my advice would be don't chop at the first site of an amber trich and to wait a couple/few days until you've got at least 10% amber:cloudy/clear...depends on preference though...

I know some greedy caregivers out there will harvest the tops and let the bottom nodes go a little longer to fatten up for weight...experiment with everything like our friend doc :)

This is good advice. Don't take mine or anybody else's word. Do your own experimenting. The "high" is very subjective and different people like different things. Some people I know like their pot a little premature. Some don't. Some like it moist, some like it dry as a bone. The problem with these types of forums is that there is so much bad information and "forum hype". There is a lot of good info too but ya gotta sift through a lot of B.S. in order to get the good stuff. I never tell anybody to take my word for anything. Try it for yourself. It's the only way to really know if info is good or bad. Happy growing my friends. :weed:

This kind of thing sometimes happens. It's all about the genetics and what chromosones combine when pollen meets calyx. It is probable that seeds from the same bud which the seed you raised would have turned out to be killer. It is also possible to attain wicked smoke from breeding with the no high plant which you have grown out, as somewhere in it's make up super weed may exist. As a grower it is your job to bring any given plant to maturity thus allowing it to exhibit it's full potential. You have done that. You did nothing wrong. That seed just did not have the genetic potential to be great. This is why breeders strive for "fixed" strains, which means that each seed will be true breeding for certain characteristics which the breeder has worked to retain. Any way, I don't mean to come off like a know it all but wanted you to know you did not go wrong, it is just that that particular seed just did not have the genes to be good. Grow on.
