week 4 of veg...check umm ot first grow...

soo i have a thread that ive been postin all my updates in but no one seems to check it out so i decided to start a new one.....welll ive been growing for about 40 days...and there lookin great....im planin on flowerin them under a 400 watt hps cooltube.....im ording that tomorrow along with a carbon filter and fan......this is my first grow and im not really tryin to go huge...just tryin to be able to say this is my own weed....lol...well the only problem im really havin is theres alot of congestion in the grow room i would pruin but ive read its better not...soo i did the tie back method...the wored but its gettin kinda thick in there but it could be alright but just give me ur oppions...

What nutrients you been using and what dosage.
I'm on my first grow too, have soil and hydro going at the moment, just coming up to the 4th week in veg for my eldest bunch, be interested in keeping up with your grow dude,

What light are you using now.

well im using general hydroponics for my nutes...and im useing 6500k cfls with a cuztom built reflector.....but im planing on veging them soon...im goin to order a 400 watt hps cooltube and carbon filter plue fan from htg supply monday..so ill be set up after i get thant...do u guys think a 170 cfm fan will be enough to cool my cool tube and pull the stinky air out of my closet??tha guy at htg said yea but i always like to have 2 oppions....ill post some pics this evening...

Generally with the cool tube you bring cool air in from outside the grow room, pass it through your cool tube and then vent it outside the grow room say into the roof for example. In that you have cold clean air coming in across the lamp rather than the half used odorized warm air from inside the grow room. So you would probably need one fan for the cool tubes and one for the carbon filter.

well heres pics of today which is day 42..there looking good i rearranged them from biggest to smallest....so they all get equal lights...and there undergrowth has a better chance of growing....and all the cool tube ive seen alot of set ups with the fan pulling are though tha filter and light than out tha room....well heres soo pics:

Sure, in fact so have I, Im just commenting on the optimum use is to bring cold air from outside and pass it across the bulbs.

I guess the point being is that if you are pulling air from inside the grow room through a carbon filter then through the bulbs then venting, the air will not be as cool as mentioned above because it will be pre warmed from being in the warm grow room, therefore more heat from the bulbs and you wont be able to move your cool tube shade as close to the plant canopy as is possible with those setups.

Cost is the main reason people use just the one vent/tube/carbon filter. If you can afford then having the two vent fan setup will enable u to get those lamps closer, even if its 3-4 inches closer, should result in more bud for you, if you cant your setup is better than the standard unsealed shades anyways. BTW good work so far.

i have another question...should i prune my plants or just let them be???they are getting really close to each other.....

here are some pics from today...there all lookin great....im kinda concerned about how tight the palnts are together...but they seem to been fine....i wish i could slow the growth of the 2 biggest ones because i would like to let the others catch up...i turn my plants every now and again soo other parts get light...is this ok when growing hydroponics....ive only read about this being done in soil growing...well tell me ur oppions and advice.....

If you switched them now, your final result will be about twice the height. In a space the size of what is on the photos, that will get very cramped and you wll have to deal with getting light down to the lower leaves which will be almost completely covered by the top canopy. There is a chance one of them may be a male, if so that will free up some breathing space for you.

With the right lighting you shouldnt need to take too much more off the bottom branches. It is preferred to crop them before you switch to flowering however since theyre from seed you are just going to have to wait to see how many females you have and make ur decision from there. But any trimming from flowering onward will slow down the process of ripening.

Im guessing you will be wanting to take some clones as well, if you havent already done so. If not, Id suggest you take some from the bottom branches now and make a note of which plant they came from. If the the plant turns out to be a male then dump the clones from that plant, and of course, pull the male from your hydro setup too.

Just suggestions is all. I know the girls can survive in cramped spaces but they prefer to spread their wings if possible.

well today i decided to cut out some of the big fan leaves that were shading the undergrowth...i also took clones of the 4 best plants....i didnt use a cloning hormone but i read u dont have to use one its just better..soo ill see wat happens.....i trimed out alot of the undergrowth to palm cut them...i dont think im goin to top my plants due to the lack of room i have....my next grow will be alot better than this one i think...im defnt goin to get a bigger planter table if im goin to grow 5 plants again..maybe just 4...

well im changing my water today...i think im goin to use the same amount since i dont have my flowering lights yet....should i stay with 1/2 strength or should i move up to full???my clones are doin ok well 2 are 2 are reall droopy so i put a heat pad under them...but im keepin an eye on that cause im not tryin to burn my house down....i toped my biggest plants today...and from the hair cut i gave them yesterday the seem to be lookin a lot better....well heres some pics:
