Anyone ever used diatomaceous earth as a top dressing to help prevent critters?

I do. I also use Gnat Nix which has been discontinued (I stocked up). My last run i caught a few bugs on my yellow sticky paper in the first week and didnt have any more bugs after that. No reason not to use it, its super cheap and seems effective.

Im not sure if there is a product similar to gnat nix out there yet. Its made from recycled glass. Basically just keeps the top layer SUPER DRY. It also helps keep the dirt where its supposed to be when watering.
