Dude im shocked......
The way to read air temperature is to omit all other sources of heat and that includes light which has no direct effect on air but will pass pretty untouched through it and warm any surface it strikes.
This is pure science and to read correct air temps the met office use a stephenson screen as placed in direct sunlight the meter will read the energy from the sun and not just the energy from the air.
If i ever see a meter in the light i run through it as those who start deserve this simple information which is vastly overlooked.
The same happens for humidity meters but they will read lower humidity not higher when placed in the light. Fundamentally your setting temps by light distance and not the real air temperature.
Reading correct air temps in a hyper reflective tent can be near on impossible but those with good extraction and circulation can be happy that it will be inline with the outside temps and is darn near impossible to create a microclimate with a 400cfm ruck strapped to it.
What happens is peeps start placing fans on plants and upping extraction which will cool the thermometer a little but only by a factor of airspeed and not the air temperature.
Initially it seems right to place meters under lights or in canopies but i assure you it is very very incorrect.
Im good at the basics like that, let me know how far you get and ill try explain better
