Your probably right why would they waste resources on one plant. But still could be a potential theif. I have been robbed before but not at that site.

But seriously i went to school for natural resources and I know that bull rush didn't happen by accident nor could an animal put it there, their bases are pretty thick and it was clearly cut nice clean cut not like it was tugged off or anything. And for the path being a public path really it isn't I'm very familiar with the area as i Grow there every year I know the local animal traffic and they usually stay clear of the marsh as it is to thick to travel through it backs on a forrest with many streams so wildlife have no purpose in there usually there are only birds and small marsh mammalian species none of which cut down bullrushes and place them across my path. My path entrance is well hidden at least i thought and its hard to understand but I know people don't use it as a hiking path because like i said he bush is thick there and the path is just wide enough to walk through me being a relatively skinny individual. plus i forgot to add that the rush wasn't just cut and set on the floor more so it was hung across a bushes branch to another bushes branch about knee high give or take.

UR RIGHT TO BE WORRIED, I ALSO KNOW when someones been near my shit, u just know, due to heavy foot paths, broken branches whatever it is, u know it wasnt u and u know it wasnt natural. id look around for and other signs someones been around, or run ideas through ur head of a natural way this occurred. take action from there. bull rushes are the tall and stiff reed like ones correct?

This is one of the pitfalls of growing on public property. The way I see it you have several options. Keep doing things the way you have been and hope for the best . I would try to find another way in if at all possible or at the very least I would cut back on my visits for what it's worth I've been in your situation before. I knew someone had visited my site because of something they had discarded while there but I weighed my options and decided to harvest early because an early harvest is better than no harvest.
