I run aero and not.flushing too me is an excuse. but to each there own as this is a hot topic. I agree if growing properly IN soil then not flushing isnt as bad or mabey not needed.

If your plants are GREEN they have CHLOROPHIL and NITROGEN

BUT IF HIGH NITROGEN is the cause . a flush would make.that go away.

all im sayin as. long as its TASTEY and burns to a FINE WHITE POWDER than its FINE to me
just my 2

caps are for highlighting not yelling
mine burns fine smokes fine smells and taste fine ......but after drying smells like hay.

Hey guys so i had you guys help alot during my first grow i relly love this site use are all great. But i need some help again. I been looking this up for ever read every site everything possible but i just need a lil more help. I grew some great strain like skywalker og royal haze nd i have a few others still flowering but from my first grow up now with the skywalker and the royal i harvested nd they smelt pretty good. I let them hang dry for a few days thenet them cure. But after the dry the like loose there smell nd syart to smell almost like hay. Then when they cure its like thr smell gets a lil stronger. My question is what causes this or what can i do to fix it or prevent it. Cuz i have some strawberry cough and other strains almost done md they smell amazing and i relly dont want tht to happen with those. Soo please any input or advice will help very much.
thank you=)

(I love growimg this beautiful herb lol=))

4 days , dark , 21°c 40-50 % rh

then im curing .....burp 3 days then lid on....but iv just started the cure
Can you bump your humidity up two where it.takes at LEAST a week as long as you dont have mould probs.
we probably do about the same but I use a controllable humidifier in a small drying room
the humidifier only comes on over 60% so it takes me at least a week to dry id say mines at 8to 9 days before anything reLly snaps

hope this helps its just.my exp
everyone will have theyre own Variables to work out

Im pretty sure the whole idea is to make the bud dry slow enough to where the chlorophyll is breaking down but once it goes below like 50%? rh in the bud the process stops.
just how I understand it so I never let my dry room. Go below 55 and it smells and taste good to the bottom of a joint which is a hard test to beat just my 2

If your plant is showing dark green meaning to much nitrogen, then No Amount of flushing will change the plant.
The most you will do is stress your plant.
Flushing is not logical from a scientific level, the plant is not a dirty sheet of cotton that you can rinse wring and repeat to clean.
A plant is alive and it can be either easy or hard to balance, it's about trying to learn your strain.
I feed with nutes then next watering I leave out nutes. I have found 600 PPM
works perfectly for my Veg and 800 PPM is all my plant wants or needs in flower.
I flower in a hempy drain to waist system, I allow minimal run off.
I also give the plant water at most every 2nd day from 5-9 weeks.
in the start of flower I water every third day thru 4th week.

Well dried is a form of curing, are the grindable or are they to damp when done drying?
are your buds crispy or crunchy sticky after 3 months in a jar?
Why have 3 month old bud?
I can't smoke it fast enough....
I like to dry the plant whole and I only remove fans before I hang.
Then when dry I cut it up and Jar it, blah blah burp etc, my bud is sticky and crunchy and smells sweet and smoke smooth, right from the dry or 3 months later in mason jars.

I am going to have to get pickling 1 Gallon large mouth jars for this batch as I am going to have lots of 10" plus long buds!
Bless,
DZ

Just my 2 but if you didnt over fert your plants depending on strain will yellow up nicely after 2 or more weeks of flush.

green = chlorophil and nitrogen
so I dont see how you can say a flush wont take it out.

unless you mean way over fertilized plants in which they will still flush but will take longer

Agreed that hay is for horses.

I'm with @sunny747 too much nitrogen in later flower.

I've run many hydro systems and I never flush. I simply feed with the proper balance of nutrients as flowering progresses. One must cut back on nitrogen and increase phosphorous in late flower and the last few weeks any use of calmag should be suspended.

Witnesses will attest to the quality terpene levels, smooth smokability and high potency of my weed.

Perhaps flushing soil is required because it was overfed and underwatered the whole time causing build-ups, sans that situation, a flush is not required even in soil.
Snaps, I use GH Floranova nutes. If there is too much N for late flowering do you think there may be a better solution. I need something easy to use. That's why the all in one works well for me.

Also, can a weak light source affect terpine development? I'd guess so. I just bought a sweet 400 w hps. I'm looking forward to seeing if there is a difference.

Seriously, nothing you're doing during the grow is causing this. It's all in the drying. You need a room or space that you can maintain a nice even 50-60% RH. Very light breeze on the buds hanging on the stems still. If you're struggling with humidity regulation, the more plant that remains (ie: fan leaves) while it hangs the slower it will dry out. Of course if you dry it out before taking fans and such off it's a much bigger PITA to trim in my experience, but there's a trade off there in quality.

I take all the non sugary leaves of and take the large branches off the mainstem
this way when you trim its almost all good quality trim

I still say if you dont flush well or are growing organic in soil or coco then you need to flush

if your plants are dark green not caused by strain then you need to flush
I wont comment anymore on this

You dried your product too quickly. It's that simple. Terpenes are very sensitive. It should take at least a week to dry your product out to a level where you can jar it. Longer is better.
I harvested on Saturday. My humidity is has been around 45% to 55%. I took off the fan leaves and put the buds on a drying rack in a dark closet with just my exhaust fan and filter running. They are pretty crunchy on the outside already and of course smell like hay :) I wish I could have slowed things down a bit. Do you have any suggestions to slow down drying? Maybe a pot of water in the tent?

The paper bag method sort of seemed to be the same for me.

Its that crunchy ness thats killing you bro try uping the humidity to 60 and only BARELY have a breeze on them

THINK OF IT THIS WAY Try to dry yoyr buds as slow as possible without getting mold .
if the outside gets too crunchy with the inside being moist says TOO much breeze and OR TOO DRY
if your bud dries faster than at LEASToneweek Then your Doing it too FAST
just my 2
as to how to make it longer
put your fan on a timer like 1 hour on 4 hours off type thing just play with it as its hard for.me to answer NOT standing there :)

Nah you shouldn't need a pot of water unless the RH is below 55to 50% like I said play with your fan timing and what ever you can

like I said I built a small like 6x6x6 drying room its pretty sealed for odor then I just run my dehumidifier set at like 60% humidity my dehumidifier has a timer built in for like 1on 4 off

thid way it doesnt heat up enough to be CRUNCHY
