has anyone tried growing in a paper towel and spray the roots with nutes? i'm wondering because i germinated seeds the other day... and i let one of them germinate until it actually came out of the shell.... so i was surprised it did so much growing just in the moist paper towel... so i was thinking.... what if i use moist paper towels as a medium as an experiment and use the MG plant food.....
actually... i would try it with 2 bagseeds and thats it... why keep pushing it if it doesn't work, right?
but just like you said... they don't need nutes the first two weeks.. it will just survive off of water and light.... hence the idea with the paper towels as a medium... i would of course do this in cups... as it grows i would use something to support it and when it reaches a certain age (if it makes it), then i would use the MG nutes... CO2 also from a DIY CO2 Generator.... and also in one cup, i would use NO SODIUM Seltzer Water to water it, which the bubbles would give the roots CO2....yeah man... i'm gonna do it

I'm a first time grower/long time toker. I'm growing 6 indica dominant bag seeds under LED panels in MG Moisture Control Potting Mix with little to no problems. 2 plants are growing better than the others, but I don't think that is different than other grows in different mediums. The one thing to watch out for is that my LED panels put out very little heat so overwatering can be a problem. I'm only watering about once a week or less at 6 weeks from planting. I just introduced a very weak nute solution of Schulz 10-15-10 Liquid Plant Food and Eleanors VF-11. Will post pics and updates as grow progresses. In my opinion MG is just as good as any other medium at a comparably lower price. People who hate on MG have their reasons but I believe it's more of a snotty/hoity toity attitude not based in fact. Kinda like the growers who bash LED lights because they use MH/Hi-Pressure Sodium lamps and don't want to admit some chinaman makes LED bulbs for pennies on the dollar of even a 400w MH. My LED's are tuned to the perfect Nanometer Wavelenghts for optimal chlorophyll A/B production. Hopefully going into flower in a few weeks.

A.D.D. much? Slow your roll mate. No one said MG was complete shit. MG is for people who know what they are doing. Which is why 90% of the people that go wah wah wah blah whatever the fuck you said on this forum lose crop. Because it's a Newbie Forum. Then that happens to be the reason why people with experience on the "Newbie" forum, key word here being Newbie, tell those wah wah Newbies to not use miracle grow because they need experience under their belt. Maybe you shouldn't point fingers at people who preach their favorite soil up and down when your doing the same exact thing but in a vulgar childish manner. So quit bashing people for their opinion and quit riding MG''s dick so hard. We understand you love it. We really do.

yes any MG soil will grow a plant but nothing like any of the good soil. why take a chance of fucking up a grow with MG soil. you will have a way better result if you stay away from that and go to a water soluble MG nut. i did and what a difference. my first grow i used mg soil and did not give any nuts and it grew with no problems but no comparison to the other grows with good soil, they were twice the plant. i have pic of all my grows that in my eyes say stay away from MG SOIL. have you ever tried any thing else.

I'm not so sure about any true benefit of freezing soil for insect control. Maybe it would kill most of the transitory egg population (ie:bugs that only are in your area in warmer weather) but it's cold up here in the N. Rockies and our native bug larva/egg laugh at -50 F.
I've always read that cooking the soil is the way to ensure sterility . . . long time, low temp, like 2 hrs @ 200?
At least that was the prevailing opinion 40 years . . . and also, it can stink.
Have beautiful healthy colas a plenty buddin' up in MG MoistureControl today.
I've been using MG for regular gardening since Jesus roamed the earth, and I can tell you, his feet WERE dirty.
Latest batch I TP'ed into larger pots w/fresh MGMC soil on Day 1 of 12/12. Works well, especially clone-to-bud w/o veg. Wider pots make wider buds, it's looking like here. Makes sense?
