big boys playin with guns... I have only ever gone shooting one time but I think I'm a pretty good shot. its fun to aim at bullseyes and pull the trigger, exhilirating, but I wouldn't ever do it towards another person unless my life was endangered by them. This case seems very unlikely to me because I don't think tensions would ever run so high that a gun would be drawn prior to any sort of endangering; if someone was gonna kill me they would have to stab me in the back or beat me to the draw. I don't have a gun but shit I know its pretty hard to shoot one if someone pulls one you have two options: disarm or book it, fast. zig zagging is bullshit just run at an angle then juke once and keep going the further away you get in a straight line from the gun the less likely you are to get shot. Once you get 30m (several seconds of running) the average gunman will have a fairly low chance of hitting you (considering he has a pistol) and you just keep running it becomes even more likely you will escape unscathed. If he is chasing you it is good because he will aim even less accurately.

Then you hide, catch your breath, and get a cellphone because the next part involves owning up to your actions and perhaps making some changes in your life. Sounds like a lot of people have hit rock bottom in conjunction with their relationship with you and you might need to develop relationships that are not so... destructive... I'm sure if you follow up with Amanda, she is likely much skinnier, perhaps rehabilitated, and maybe even has a boyfriend. Unfortunately, she's probably got some negative personality traits too. Paul's dead, can't do much about that it happens. I guess you caused it but you were at risk and what happened is ok in my books. Van the Man probably moved home. He most likely reads lots of books and smokes pot maybe he hits some dopeycrack once in a while but hes fine.

violence and criminalization of our youth over drugs caused by the drug war. A lot of people read that as "kids are criminals cuz they use drugs" but its not just that the illegality of these substances causes property disputes and grudges which drive criminal behavior. the war on drugs causes the very problems it strives to eliminate.

I mean it is a fair argument that this sort of criminal behavior can happen in any walk of life but its sort of packed in with the drugs aspect. There is money and there is drugs and those are the two main reasons most crimes even exist. Other than that there is hate. and Paul had hate, that is the bad thing.

I really need to take a shower after reading this story. Hope the Social Service route your on is working out. I have a friend though who got her degree in social services, been doing it for close to 10 years and is way burned out. Day after day of hard luck cases is taking it's toll. Takes a special breed to weather this type of work, but it can be very rewarding. I agree with some of the other post, you should write, even part time.

I never sold heroin, but I have gotten caught up with selling a bit of Meth, and a lot of weed for the phoenix crips, which is something I'm not perticuarally proud of, but I needed some"pocket change" at the time. I almost got killed over a bad deal I and said fuck this, then I moved.
Your story is very interesting, a long read. I agree you really could make a book out of it.
