I still remember the flawed GOP "contract With America". I remember late night votes with Cspan cameras being blocked that resulted in a trillion dollar social program for medicare prescriptions, compliments of the GOP. I also remember trillions of dollars being given away to the rich and big businesses in the "hope" that it would trickle down and create jobs. I also witenessed the deregulation of the financial sector, that ended up causing the largest financial crisis in America, that we continue to suffer from today.
Make no mistake about it. Republicans REFUSE to learn from the past. They have sat on their fucking hands for the last two years in an attempt to derail ANY new legislation. Thankfully they won't win enough seats to override a presidential veto. We do not need to go down that road again. It's amazing that just 4 years ago, America was fed up with the GOP and the mess they made of things. Two years ago, they sent a strong message to the GOP establishment, with Obama winning a historic percentage of the votes. How soon they forget that our current economic woes are those that started under BUSH. The WORLD is still in recovery mode, but Americans expected immediate recovery, even though Obama warned it would be a long hard road.
With a GOP majority, it is time for the rich to rule once again. Will any lessons be learned? I highly doubt it, as they are prone to repeat themselves everytime in the majority. They cut social spending so they can continue tax cuts for the rich that need them the less. The trickle down theory has been proven wrong twice, both times in Bush's presidency. When the fuck will Republicans open their eyes and realize that? Maybe as soon as special interests quit lining their coffers?
