I went to menards to get some organic soil, perlite an some manure but on the label it said no ingredients and I was wondering if anyone knew if this " new life composted manure" is ok to use. What kind of manure is in it? It says it is .5 N....that's it. It was only 3 bucks.

Man at least you were able to find soil!!! This time of year in the Midwest USA i cant find ANYTHING. They switch out all the palets of soil for pallets of rock/road salt (I wouldnt grow in that). The only thing any store has is MG and i found out its horrible for growing mj. I didnt try Menards, but the closest one is 60 minutes away.

Good luck!!

Na brah...do not use manures, no good. Not for indoor growing (I wouldnt use it outdoor either).

Other things to get:

Base soil look for something thats peat or coco coir based, or both is even better, or get some of each and mix them 50/50 (nothing that says extended release nutrients period or "fortified with...." unless thats what you want, but its mostly miracle grow garbage) perlite is good for aeration, rice hulls are an alternative.

Earth worm castings

Kelp meal
alfalfa meal
soft rock phosphate
green sand
cotton seed meal

All the "meals" are good, I would mix most of those meal products at 1TBS per gallon of soil or about 6 per cubic foot.

All of these things can be bought at an agway or menards or whatever, espoma brand is more than fine. These products are cheap, for the most part you arent going to get anymore organic than that, you can but no need.

The other thing I would look for is some fish fish hydrolysate, that or some guanos for bloom and veg.

The only things I really didnt mention are bone meals and all that, which I dont really use to much and really dont know about to much, someone else can fill you in a little better on that stuff.

Thanks for the help with that. I'll just throw the ba of "manure" on my vegetable garden to get rid of it. I will use guano and some meals akin with some trace elements. You live in the Midwest then do you use seed banks?

Na I live on the east coast dude, I've never been to a menards but I was guessing it was going to be like an agway, we have those here in the more rural towns.

Not sure if they are going to have guanos, farmers are more inclined to use manures before guano, its too expensive for that, but I wouldnt use it for growing herb.

As for freebies, the only place is attitude that I know of for freebies, but you have to spend a certain amount, the more you spend the more you get. If you order from attitude make sure to use the guaranteeing shipping, its a few bucks more but its worth paying if your order gets lost, they wont be resending them over night but you'll eventually get your package should something happen to it. That, and use coupon code "420" when you check out, its towards the bottom of the first checkout screen.
