Hello Everyone,
Another week down and we keep making forward progress The girls are getting nice and frosty and the two seedlings are doing well. I topped them at the first node yesterday. I attached a pic of the Dr. GrinLife and I'll get some Monkey Mints pics soon.
I have the veg tent all set up-I forgot to get a couple fans to move air around inside the tent, so I have to order them soon. I went with an Infinity AC 2x2x4 tent, 6-inch inline fan, and 160W Samsung LED light. Here's the link to the light:
So far, my first impressions on the light: It is the first manufactured light fixture I've bought since around 2012, I think. I like that the driver can be removed for remote power to reduce heat in the tent. It looks like it has a good spectrum and I think the diodes are good quality. The lamp has lots of features I don't care about: cycling, sunrise/sunset simulation, etc., however do I like that it plugs into the controller for the fan and can be controlled through bluetooth with the app on my phone. When the light is in operation, it puts out a good bit of heat and gets pretty warm. It feels 'warm to hot' to the touch. Due to this, I'm planning to have one fan blowing on the light and another to move air around the plants. Overall, I will argue that the lights I built are 'better' in the sense that they run cooler, have a smaller form factor, all three of my lights combined weigh less than this light-which weighs more than 5 pounds, and I'll bet that my drivers are more efficient. Time will tell how this thing does, but it is just a veg lamp, so it doesn't need to do much.
Once the GrinLife and the Monkey Mints get closer to finishing, I'll start some new seedlings in the veg tent. I think about 3-4 weeks of veg time before they head into the flowering tent is what I'm looking for-topped twice and fully recovered with new growth.
