Western slope growers

I'm scared to grow that tall stuff, I'm looking for a plant that gets about four or five tall, max. I am also tired of the regular seeds, I'm going for feminized seeds, it's just the pits to grow everything up and then on the first of August, cull half, or more, unless you are lucky. I'm no longer trying for those huge plants, I just want a reliable strain that does not produce any surprises, but gives a reliable yield. Also, I would relly like to find a strain that is done in mid September, those last weeks into October give me a ton of stress.
I have ordered seeds for next year and have done my best to do these things.....I'm hoping for the best.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone here have a feel for when the outdoor growing season is around the grand junction area? From what I've read, Colorado in general is late March to early October. This area seems to have a much milder winter, so I'd think the growing season would be much longer

General rule of thumb around Montrose is to wait until after Mother's Day to plant outside, this year outdoor stuff could go until late October. Start them inside and put them outside when they are at least a foot tall. Growing from seed and getting some males is a bummer but it can also be a breeding opertunity.

Around Carbondale, at 6600', it's usually June 1 to mid-October. This year was mid-June. I usually start seeds April 1. I would think in Junction you'd have 4-8 weeks longer than me. The late summer rain was hard on my crop this year, making the plants too heavy to hold themselves up.

Wow, May 10th (mother's day) is a lot later than I thought it would be. Montrose and GJ have the same mild winners too, I think. I'm thinking of experimenting with a few clones outdoor and the rest indoors. Thanks for the reply.

This is making me think I'll instead set it up such that my clones will be in smart pots with handles so I can drag them into the garage when the weather gets bad. Thanks

Grand Junction has a 50% chance of frost during third week of April and a 50% chance during the second week of October. Relatively safe from May 1 to October 1......

What strains are you guys looking to throw outside this year?
I broke my ankle (just got it out of the boot) and am real excited to get back to cultivating but im pretty much starting off fresh because i wasn't able to tend to what i had indoor.
I had some good luck with Strawberry blue from world of seeds last year but im thinking more indica this year maybe a quick sativa or 2 but i didnt have time to finish a hawiian skunk haze last year that turned out real whispy

I would love to get together roll a joint, grab a beer, and some food. Talk some shop and pay you for whatever extras you have.
Im heading back to Durango around the 5th of April. I am lucky enough to have family out in chicago who helped me while i was recovering from surgery.

Funny thing is.......i got done taking a few turns earlier in the day then got off the mountain and went into town for a beer with a friend, slipped on some ice on the fucking sidewalk of all places

I'm planted out now, hoping for frost free from here on out...have several varieties but one called California Dream is far and away the most robust. TSSC seeds. Another called Ice from Nirvana is also going strong. I cloned the CD, and am trying indoor for the first time. The clones seemed to be slow to root but finally did. Repotted and put them under two 600w bulbs on travelers. Half just don't seem to be taking off, a little yellow on the tips on some, others growing good. I have been feeding lightly, think I may up the mix a little and get them going. Has anyone else out there tried CD indoors??

Howdy! Representing winter park here. 8500ish feet. Hope everyones outdoor is doing well considering this weather. I've got a bbxww and a strawberry cheese cake flowering right now under 400w hps Both looking very pretty and both growing oddly symmetrical considering the different topping and what not i did on both of them. I'm a very new grower so the more you learn!

got a good sun today . if it were not for my ghouse and a heater i would be SOL

My stuff is growing good, in spite of the monsoon. Some of them that were small are in a holding pattern but not showing any damage. There's something to be said for starting the seeds a couple of weeks early so as to have nice big plants to set out. My indoor crop has taken off very well, I switched to 12/12 yesterday, looking for a harvest August first unless a disaster occurs.....which is possible, I have never done indoors before...I'm not sure I can control the high summer temps with my setup.

get a cheap a/c off craigslist . and be sure your running your lights at night...
