wet grass smell

so i have some of my harvested bud curing in a sealed jar for about 4 days and it still smells like wet grass. its covered in resin and looks and smokes very good, but it doesnt have that dank smell. any one know how much longer untilll it starts to get that dank smell back?

I'm not too exact on this but depending on the strain, the normal dank should return....what you are smelling right now is the release of chlorophyl or something of that sort. Feel free to seek the advice of somebody else just in case.

Could take another week or two... just make sure you're "burping" them once or twice a day, especially for the first week... the smell will gradually change from grassy smell to danky smell... just takes time...

Once it does, enjoy the smoke and... the smell!!!

hey yea thanks, i dont know the strain, but i smoked a bowl of it and it was smooth as hell with a pretty good taste. and yea im burping them way more than 2 times a day bc im paranoid about bud rot. its my first grow and dont want to loose it. but yea i guess ill just wait and be patient. if any thing thats the number one thing ive learned through this grow, patience is everything. plus rep to both yall for the help

be careful to not burp them too much... i believe this is actually possible... once you've burped them for a week or so, it's actually pretty safe to just open the jar for about 30 minutes once or twice a day... you can dump the buds out and let them sit out too... I wouldn't shake the jar to move them around though...

Once they're to you're liking, you don't really have to open the jars at all anymore... Just leave them shut and open when you need to get a bit out... If it starts to turn like a golden brownish color, you know you're to the point of a really nice cure... at that point, the bud should be at it's max taste and smoothness... You're right, patience is very important... especially when you get to the golden cured bud that smokes like heaven... it will teach you to be even more patient...

yea ill try not to burp the as much, as i figure that if anything it will slow down the curing process. im just so paranoid about that damn bud rot!!!! iv read like 3 threads yesterday about people getting bud rot and i refuse to let that happen to me haha. and no prob screwed up, u help people out, u get rep. peace

Just make sure you break up thick colas to prevent bud rot. I usually dry my weed after manicuring it down to nuggets, trying to keep from having large chunks of cola that never completely dries. Part of the curing process is starting with those evenly dried nuggets. And maybe you need to burp them longer to make sure they are not to moist in the jars. Also, I don't know about your harvest, but if you harvest when there isn't enough trich production or if your strain doesn't produce many trichs then you will have a more grassy smell. From my experience, the really dank shit never smelled bad throughout the dry/cure process. Good luck, and congrats on the harvest.

yea tht could be it, i harvested this one early just cuz i couldnt hold out ne more, but it was a really small girl and im def guna wait out for my other one to fully ripen. heres the link if ne of you wana check it out.
