What am I doing wrong?

I'm on my 5th day of cure, following the "a perfect cure every time" by SimonD and 4 of my jars are still reading at 65%-67 - they smelled and do still smell super stinky delicious, however when I initially open to burp, they are starting to smell hayish until aired out a bit. Are they too moist? I found a teeny nug in my drying station of same strain and it was super dry but not to a crumbly crisp, it was really sticky and smoked perfect, which makes me think the buds in jars may be too moist still. I just don't want to ruin them by over drying they are stellar and I'm really proud of them. Should I let them sit out for a bit?

If they are 62% RH and up you need to keep burping if they are in jars. You can take buds out or leave jars open for an hour, your choice, just don’t keep jars closed for days until they fall and stay below 62%, preferably about 58%. Once they are stable you can jar or bag for longer periods.

That's a catastrophe waiting to happen. If the RH in your home is low (50's or so) I'd take those buds out of the glass and let them air out for a day or two. Anything over 65 RH is very high risk for mold, I'd keep my eye on it and get it to 56-60 RH for the jars.

I jarred my last harvest at 56RH in the jars and it slowly crept up to 60RH in about a month (burping twice daily). If yours's creeps up in RH anymore, your in trouble.

Also, if your buds are on stems (larger stems) get them off immediately. They slow down the drying/curing process.

Thank you so much! I have been back and forth with myself on this whole process, and you have confirmed my gut feeling that they need to come back out. This is only my second grow and I have definitely done better on this years grow, but it doesn't mean anything if I mess up the last step

You will nail it soon and jar em right on 60%

Most hay smells come from a lack of a perfect environment where you are flowering in an area that does not have low temps or fresh air flowing. If you think it comes from your curing you just don't have good enough genetics. Some people dry for two weeks before they even think about jarring it. Your dry room should have some kind of extra moisture to extend the drying time that long though. Your environment is gonna play the biggest role in your end product. And a dry/cool/windy environment during flower will make resin drip off the plants.

You guys are the SHIT!! Took em out for a few hours since rh in house is super low at 39%, jarred em back up, and this morning they are sitting at 60% and their yummy smell is back!

One day I'll get to growing inside, this was an outdoor grow. I controlled the environment as best I could, but mother nature is in charge of the temps out there. Did green house at night to avoid worms and wet buds from dew and rain and turned out great. Drying room a bit of a challenge in the Midwest as we go from 64% rh to 40% overnight, this time of year. I was able to use a small fan and humidifier to extend dry time, but next year I may find it more beneficial to dry trim vs wet and hang as to ensure a longer drying time. I just know my dry room is why my widow doesn't smell as sweet as she did, but I think I fixed issue in time for my gelato. All nugs are reading 60% humidity in jars, so we shall see. Fingers crossed I can get this part right
