What are the best fluorescent for germination

Im going to be germ. about 120 auto's but I only have 4 fluorescent fixtures. I do have 6 - 400w hps systems though

the hps will work but they will stretch. If your using cfls get anything from 5500K-6400K

for gremimg darkness is what you want no lights. use your cfl for the 1rst 2 weeks then go to your hps

Think I got your question overall, however just in case. Germination itself is best done in darkness with moisture in a towel, papertowel, etc...
Then the planting. If your asking about growing young plants under flourescents, my personal experince has shown that any of the tubes or CFL's will do pretty much the same thing. Start mine with lights about a foot away and decrease the distance as the roots and plants grow.

Aug, do you have tubes or CFL? What are you going to start them in? If they are 4 foot tubes and you are using solo cups or something like that you have lots of light. If it's 4 CFL, not enough light.

I want to use tubes since i have 3 fixtures , 2 of the fixtures hold 2 tubes but there only about 2"wide & 4ft long then i have 1- 4ft fixture with them reg. tubes that stores have LOL ... so what kind of tubes do i need cause i just got my seeds today ..... and want to germ them today.


or should i hook up 1 400w hps for all 113 girls 1 inch rock wool cubes

Don't sweat what tubes you have just to get them started in rockwool cubes. 16 sq feet is plenty of room, that's 17 per sq foot. What you do with 113 seedlings, if you are really lucky, and one 400W HPS is another story.

Well my systems are all hooked up and are about 3ft from eachother " Each 400w " So if I can use them to veggie up and ready since they are ------ ALL AUTO'S ------- Just let me know cause i want to plant these girls tomorrow to get things rolling
