What are your transplanting routines?

Hey guys,

I transplanted these girls back on may 14th due to roots poking out of solo cup. Fast forward 8 days and they're now poking through the 1 gal pots. Do you guys typically wait a little after seeing root structures or transplant when roots become visible. Interested to hear what you all think. My opinion? Transplant to avoid root bound plants. Problem being its only 8 days and shock could be a possibility. I'm going to water them today and transplant into final home after that. PS they're 21 days old

What do you guys personally do? Thanks for sharing

About what I do with slightly smaller containers. They will easily go a couple more weeks. Root tips explore quickly on transplant but it takes time for the root mass to develop.

Roots sticking out of pots isn't neccarily a sign it needs repotted

And root bound is an over used term

I use pots that actually trim the roots

I wait until there are a lot of roots showing - pop the root ball from the solo cup to check.

Biodegradable grow bags.
I dropped my germmed seeds in these, grew them in their bags, and kept those bags in 5g pots (6 bags in each pot) just to keep the root area dark.
To transplant, I did the same operation as @Hobbes , (minus the rooting juice) except that I just drop the whole bag in - no drama at all.
They never even paused in growth - I just watered the bag as normal, then the soil around it to get the roots to expand.
I need to top dress & water these, but it shows the bag.

Hello everyone, I get asked quite often "How do you transplant your plants?" So i thought i would write this little tutorial to help people out. First things first. I always have plenty of POTS and i recommend you always keep some of yours as spares to make it easy at Transplanting time...

If its a seed/clone to crop I'll start and finish them in 6 lltr air pots, if I've a crop in the flower tent I'll start seeds in 1ltr airpots in the clone tent then onto the final pot as soon the flower tent is available.

I re potted a plant a few nights back and I was shocked at the root ball, I normally use lids on my pots fk me what a difference, I normally have roots holding the surface together.

This is more the normal, I removed the lid after flowering this one, that algae isn't a nice thing in a grow room. _20210524_104831.JPG

Idk if it's the normal for others using air pots to have the plastic bottoms pushed out from a convex to a concave, the bottoms of my pots get pushed out with the roots, you would think they're upside down...

That's what I do lol...

They get BTi, permethrin for gnats and crawlies
Add some B. Bassiana and G. catenulatum fungus inoculations, infects the growing medium, plant tissues, leaves, roots.
Both act similar to Trichoderma, one for bugs, one for soil pathogens, both trigger increased growth and induced resistance.
A dose of seaweed juice to trigger JA response genes (permanent) for drought tolerance, block soil pathogens, stimulate root growth.
Transplant in with Mycos, zero damping off.
Complicated, but plants are happy at transplant.

I need to up my fungus and insect resistance for sure. Early prevention is key.. not sure the route yet

Agree roots coming out the bottom is not a tell all but that is when I start to occasionally pull the pot off for a visual confirmation.
